No im sorry to say, not in the standby mode but in the shutdown mode. this could be from several things. like a bad regulator IC in the main supply, or a set of bad capacitors between the main power supply and the sweep power supply, or maybe a shorted audio output IC oer a shorted convergence IC or could even be because fluid leaked down onto the Printed circuit board, from the CRTs. SOURCE: 50hx70 blue projection light is concaced at top and bottom of tv

When the convergence amplifier ICs go bad (STK392-xxx), they RARELY cause more than one color to go out. The fact that the top and bottom of the picture are effected indicates the vertical convergence IC. Replace both, and while you're in there check the bias resistors... it is likely one of these is open. Once the ICs have been replaced (as well as any open resistors), customer convergence followed up with the auto convergence should do the trick.

SOURCE: Red vertical convergence out. Where can I find DIY repair info for this older set? I found the part online. Is it a solder job or a board replacement?

yes it a soldering job, replace the 2 ics, model no. tsk..., and check the resistors at the pins.

Red power light continuously blinking. no picture no sound.

It could be the lamp went out and needs replacement. The Toshiba website states when this happens to unplug the televison for 10 minutes then plug back in. If that does not work then try another power outlet. If that does not work then call for service

TV turns off and power light blinks unpluged andd still does it.

Likely to be the STK convergence chips causing a protection circuit to switch the TV off. Have you got any onscreen convergence problems (i.e, colour fringes)?
