My ice make has been on the frits for about a year off and on.
And now the ice maker quit totally. I noticed broken ice cubes in the tray so I removed and unpluged the maker and cleared the frozen broken ice pieces.
I then replaced the maker plugged it back in and still have the same problem .
I ice make don't even move . I checked my connection and there is power going to the unit. What am I missing . Please If you could help it would be great. I would be the family hero :-)
sincerely, Randy

Charles, these models have a habit of the inlet tube freezing over. Make sure the black tube feeding the trough is clear. You may want to disconnect it from the back and see if you can blow through it. I use hot water in a baster to clear them all the time. Another thing is to check the optics. When opening the freezer door the red optic light on the right should flash 2x with a pause repeatedly. When you close the left hand emitter flapper the light should stay on. If it does this your optics are good. Because of these optics the new ice-maker has to be jumped started into a cycle. Once started you can monitor the fill. Catriver..post back.

Krakus, there is no fuse in the dispenser assy., but there are two switches mounted on the control bracket. The posts on the brackets that hold the switches are really thin and it's possible that it broke. Therefore when you are pressing the lever you are not making the switch and sending the juice to the auger motor. Remove the dispenser cover by inserting a flat blade screw driver in the slots at the bottom. Pry out gently and the cover should pop off. Then slide it up and off. Now you will be looking at the control bracket and see the switches on the left and right side. See if the switch holder is broken. If this is the case your part number is 2183771. Not a hard job, just have to take your time. Im assuming that when you tested the auger motor you verified that the drive coupler was not broke. Catriver..post back
SOURCE: Kitchen Aid Ice maker Stopped working
I would suggest not buying a KitchenAid. I have the same problem with my ice maker. Have had nothing but problems with every KitchenAid product that I have ever owned. I will never purchase another KitchenAid product.
All of there appliances are second rate. That is "The KitchenAid Difference"

I would contact Hotpoint direct for this one. It sounds like a design fault to me.
What I think may be going on is that the cubes are melting too much, then refreezing lower down.
Set your freezer to -18, and the fridge to +2 and see if that changes things any.
Check seals in that area. Where is the moisture coming from to generate the frosting? - Is the location high in humidity?

The ice maker has stopped working. The red led light blinks when the freezer door is opened. Any thoughts?

I just checked the ice cube tray and there is no ice nor water in it? Hum . After plugging it back in, one week ago, it did fill with water. we all heard it fill, then felt the thin ice form over the top after about an hour. But now there is no ice at all {WHAT THE}. Maybe some other family member used the ice thinking all is ok and did not tell know one.Still the fact is that there is no water in the ice cube maker tray at all. It will not fill. { Man this is getting confusing } :-(
