try changing the needle try rethreading the machine clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for lint or threads if these suggestions don't help, then the machine needs to be checked to see what wrong with it
If remote control functions proeerly, the front panesl switches to be suspected. If any one mong the microswitches inside got strucked, all functions will be distrubed. it will be best to follow any more after replacing these microswitches. These switches can be located just behind the control panel of the tv, soldered diretly to a printed circuit board. You have to replace all of the at the same time. Just undolder one amoung them as as sample, when you go to buy for a new one. If this also does not help you, repalce its memory IC. This IC can be located very near to the main system control IC, will have 8 solder terminals. A very small IC and wont cost more. Eventhough it is very small, function of it when the set works is great. Replace it. When you buy this IC, make a keen look on it number. It is very important when replacing this IC. All these components stated above, can be bought from most of the electronic spare part selling shops st your town. OK.
