Unable to Configure the Airport Express wireless using HP Pavillion running with Windows Vista

I bought new Apple AirPort Express Base Station with 802.11. It was pretty easy to configure as per manual provided and with only one Ethernet Port. Utility Disk was pretty handy. As per the manual if you configured as it's says - you will see the green light on router and message will be shown that you have configured successfully. Till here everything was smooth like butter. Worst part started here - I have only Local access when i finish with setup configuration. i tried removing tcp/ip - iv6 protocol. Tried keep running only with 4. I tried with static IP. I reset the router again and the configured. It was still not working - Local access only. OOOFfffffffffff - Please no more problem. I tried on other system Sony - running with Windows 7. There was no change. Any suggestion please.

How to change the password on Apple airport express ?

Unplug the AirPort Express from the power outlet and press and hold the reset button. While still holding down the reset button, plug the device into a power outlet. Hold down the reset button until you see the light flash green four times. Let go of the button and the device will reset itself. Wait the requisite 45 seconds and configure it with the AirPort Express Assistant or AirPort Admin Utility.
This performs a factory reset.

We just bought an Apple Airport Extreme router. After installing the Airport Utility software, and hooking up the router, we can not configure the base station using the Airport Utility. No matter what...

First time you should connect an Ethernet cable to the AirPort, and set it up with the software it came with. Then take a note of the wireless network's name (SSID) and the password (you might want to chance them to your personal preference though), security youre using (WEP, WPA, or WPA2)

Trying to update firmware on y airport extreme but i forgot my password

You need to perform a soft reset of your router. There directions to do this from the Apple web site are:
  1. Connect the AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule to power.
  2. Press and hold the reset button with a pen or pencil for 1 full second, then release it. The light (LED) will begin flashing amber, indicating that the AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule is in soft reset mode.
  3. From the AirPort menu bar item, choose the network created by the AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule (the network name does not change).
  4. Open AirPort Utility in Applications > Utilities on a Mac using Mac OS X, and in Start > All Programs > AirPort on a computer using Windows.
  5. Select the AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule and click Continue.
  6. A window indicating that the device has been reset will appear.
  7. Select "Restore the previous settings" and select OK.
  8. Move through subsequent windows to make changes to your passwords or other settings as desired, clicking Continue after each one.
  9. When you have moved through all of the selection windows you will be able to select Update. Click Update to install the new settings.
  10. Click Continue to allow your AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule to restart.
  11. Quit AirPort Utility.

Login to your airport express using Apple's airport utilities (either in it's current configuration or after resetting it).

Using the airport utility do not choose manual setup, just select continue.

Adjust (as required) the airport express station name and password and select continue.

Select "I have a wireless network and I want to add AirPort Express or replace an existing device on my network and select continue.

Select I want Airport Express to wireless join my current network and select continue.

Choose if you want to extent the rance of your network or just join the network and select continue.

Choose the network you wish to join... etc etc etc....

You should be fine.

Apple extreme bridged to apple extreme (Windows network)

Hi,
OK, do you have the latest version of Apple's Airport Utility: Version 5.4.1 (541.9) ?
If you don't, get it... it's got an excellent interface that will walk you through bridging two wireless routers together.
Once you get your hands on it, you will need to choose which airport will be the primary and which will be the secondary. Ideally, pick the one connected to the highest speed and most reliable internet access.
Connect to the secondary airport and configure it as bridge to the primary, the Airport Utility will walk you through it step by step.

Apple® - AirPort Express Wireless-N Base Station

No. The airport express just has a shorter range. You can use both a regular base and express to extend the range further. Also, the express can be used at your home stereo. You can play your Itunes library directly to your stereo with an adapter to the express. Anyway, the express is just a less powerful wireless, with some special features. We print through it and use it exclusively. May add base station later. Good luck.

Vista compatibility

Vista has very little drivers for equipment sad but true. However in your case you can use Airport Extream. However here is what an apple tech had to say: If you are a Vista user and you don't have access to a Mac, you will not be able to get this working. Apple hasn't yet stirred itself to release a version of Airport Express Assistant that works with Windows Vista - you can't set it up via Windows' own networking software and nor does the Airport Admin Utility work under Vista. It installs and you can run it, but it returns error messages if you try and connect to the Airport Express. I had to use a Mac to get it working, though once it's set up as a client to your existing wireless network, you can stream from iTunes on a Vista PC to the Airport Express. The documentation is very poor, too, with this: I had to do extensive Googling first to track down the fact that I couldn't set it up with Vista and second to identify the device's IP address and default password. Having said that, it is a breeze to set up via a Mac and works like a dream witih Vista once it's up and running. But don't bother if you have Vista until Apple updates the software.
