SOURCE: I have a frigidaire freezer upright model#ffu20f9gw3
Without any additional info, there are a lot of possibilities:
1. Condenser coil (underneath unit) is dirty and clogged.
2. Compressor is failing. (need A/C tech)
3. Metering device is clogged. (need A/C tech)
4. Refrigerant charge is low. (need A/C tech)
5. Door seal is broken (frost will form around door).
6. Defrost heaters are stuck on (replace defrost timer located underneath unit at front).
7. Condenser fan has failed (underneath freezer on back).
8. Evaporator fan (inside fan) has failed (ice will form on cooling coil).
This should get you started...
If this helps you, please select YES to the first two ratings questions. Thank you, and Good Luck.

look around the back of the freeze and at the bottom you will see a small black compressor .Put your hand on it and if it is running you will feel it vibrating. If it vibrating but running very hot them it means you have no gas in the system so the freezer won't freeze. If the compressor is cold and not running then it could be eaither the relay on the compressor or the board on the front either way you will need to get an engineer in
SOURCE: freezer only cools to 40 degrees
check to see if there is ice built up on the inside back if there is it may have defrost problems or if part of the back has ice it may be low of freon

Good day,
If the unit is running but not cooling then check the following.
1. The fan motor behind the rear panel is not running, you will have to remove the panel, being careful not to damage the control thermostat, and inspect the motor, and replace if needed.
2. The defrost system has failed, icing the coil behind that same panel, and not circulating air. There are 3 parts to the defrost system, the main heater, a calrod unit mounted on the bottom of the cooling coil, a defrost control thermostat which is located on that same coil, but on the top. It is a small 1" round disk with 2 wires coming out of it.
Lastly, a timer which is located on the back of the machine and determines how often the unit defrosts.
If you have an ohm meter and know how to use it, you can test the heater and control thermostat for continuety if the coil is indeed iced up. If not iced up, the test will not work.
To test the timer, you take a screwdriver and with the machine on, turn the shaft clockwise until it shuts off. wait 35 minutes. If it turns the machine back on, it's O.K. If not, it needs replaced.
A tutorial on defrost systems is at the end of this post.
3. If none of the above work, then it is in the compressor/sealed system. This machine has had many issues in this area and is a serious problem unless...........
The unit is under 5 years of age, then warranty will cover the repair.

Thank you for your inquiry, friend!
Normally it is recommended to set your Frigidaire upright freezer to zero degrees. It is your option to make it cooler if you choose too. I hope this information has been helpful. -Matt
