We have had this TV for a few years that we bought from COSTCO. The screen just started blinking like lightning and is going black. It comes back on for a few seconds and then goes black again. We have sound, but the picture keeps going.
What do you think is wrong and is the cost to repair it almost as much as getting a new TV? :((
The cost to repair it might not be a worry, parts for those types of sets are not available, the plasma style sets are replaced by LCD/LED.

The problem is more or less with the LCD screen itself. The manufatcurer covers dead or burnt pixels.I would suggest contact Vizio Support on the following number

Once minute my Vizio P50HDM was working the next minute the picture was barely visible. I called Vizio and they gave me a number for a repair company. Their company gave me a $650 estimate. I called a few other local placed and they said that this is a very common problem for this model TV. All the places gave me an estimate of between $600 - $700. I called Vizio to complain, but they are not interested.

check the backlight inverter and the Y-sus board the one to your left. if those are fine check the bottom right buffer board

I have the same problem except it is the left side. It will start on with vertical lines on the left and work fine on the right and then it will go black on the left.
We have the same problem. The screen goes black, but the sound works...sometimes. Any answers yet?
Same exact problem. Woke up one day... just was black.
playing video game and screen just went black,no popping noise or loud crack,just black,still have sound though,all conections are good,no problems at all until this happened.tv is approx. 2 years old.
