We bought our Sony Bravia television approximately 7 months ago and it already does not turn on. All we get is a flashing standby light (6 times every 2 seconds).
Please help.
A 6 flash error indicates a problem with the backlight. Your set is less than a year old and still in warranty, so you should contact Sony and arrange for a service call to get it repaired.
Check if the set is under warranty.
Comon failures are in the power supply, back plane lighting, or in the processing area. The fix is to replace defective boards. Out of warranty service would be expensive.

The Sony technician already checked our unit and he said the backlight needs to be upgraded.
Is the backlight even upgradable or should I already demand for a new unit?
Please help.
If the backlight inverter/backlight "power supply" has failed or there is a bad lamp in the panel, does this mean that SONY has to replace the backlight/backlight "power supply" only? or the bad lamp only? or the whole panel already? or the whole Bravia unit?
Sony Bravia. Everything is normal when the set goes black with the standby light flashing. After a while I can turn it back on. Sometimes it comes back, other times it simply starts up and drops back to the flashing Standby.
