To fix Windows Live Messenger error 80004005, you have to reinstall the latest version of Windows Live Messenger From here - http://get.live.com/messenger/overview

In case you are curious, the cause of this error is the Microsoft .NET Passport account is blocked by the .NET Messenger Service because your computer may be running a non Microsoft program that is not licensed by Microsoft this is a violation of the MSN Messenger Terms of Use.

Error 80004005 was originally created by MSN Messenger maintenance procedures. In order to stop users from using non Microsoft add-on's, that may harm Microsoft's service.

Error 7008007e

I tried searching for answers on the net and found other people with the same problem, but nobody seems to have an answer yet. I then went to the Windows Live site and others are having login errors and such. But it seems the error codes can vary. This is the advice they give quoted directly from the official site:

To determine the exact error code you’re getting in Windows Live Messenger, click the “Show details” option from the dialog box that pops-up when the sign-in attempt to the service fails. Take note of the error and specify it when you contact support through http://support.live.com

Hopefully that will help you. If it's not a sign-in error, try going to the Windows Live site (link below) and looking around, or even putting in a request for help. They may even have a live chat feature there.
