We plugged a new emerson hdtv into a room that does not have a satellite box hooked up and lost satellite signal(directv) on all the tvs in the house that do have the satellite hooked up?? Do you know why this would happen??
Provided you did not make any changes to the cabling through out the house there is no reason that you would have lost satellite signal except if something is in front of the dish, some one moved the dish e.g. child bumping into it if it is on a pole, or there is a major storm in your area e.g. blizzard, hurricane etc. You also may have snow build up that may have caused this issue or a form of wildlife that has decided to use the dish as a perch and is blocking the LNB's. The most likely result would be trying to split a signal that is coming from the dish going to another satellite receiver or the multi-switch. There are a few ways to get a signal to that TV.
1. RESTORE THE SYSTEM TO ITS ORIGINAL CONFIGURATION.
2. Either come off the multi-switch in the attic or outside the home and run new lines to the new receiver if you have one for this TV.
3. You can run new lines from the dish to the new TV if your system has an available port(s).
4. This is the least preferred by most homeowners as it will result in two tvs viewing the same programming- You can put a splitter into the line going from a receiver to the tv and run one of the out ports to the new tv and the other back to the original tv.
I hope this assists you and thanks for using Fix Ya. If I can be of further assistance please let me know.
