SOURCE: My Poulan 42-Inch 17.5 hp Briggs and Stratton

OK, so I had the same problem. Would not go into gear forward or in reverse. I took it apart and nothing seemed out of place or broken. I scratched my head for an hour... asked my wife if she had done anything to the machine while I was gone and she replied I only had a tire fixed!!! Bing bulb went off.... She had removed the tire from the shaft and had lost the SQUARE KEY for the drive shaft, one 20 cent square key for the drive shaft and it worked!! TA DAHHH!!
Simple fixes for simple problems.

How do I fix a troybilt pony that dies if put in reverse? Also a 2nd question if my mower is weak moving but my belts are good?

Does it have a "mow in reverse" switch/setting? My Craftsman does and if it isnt set then the mower dies if trying to go in reverse with blades engaged.

Zero turn will not move forward reverse or turn

These units use Hydraulic pumps for motivation. If the unit stopped all at one time, I suspect a drive belt came off.
For both pumps to fail at the same time would be very odd. Check the v-belt driving the wheel pumps.

Why won't the blades engage on my riding mower 54" mtd 13ap625k730?

You have probably thrown the belt for the blades. If it continues to throw the bet check the tensioner.

Craftsman LT2000 Does not move (wheels do not move). blade engages and works finr

I would lower the deck to the lowes setting and look between the frame and the deck toward rear wheels and check the drive belt it sounds like it is slipping or busted.

Engine runs good and blades turn fine but the lawnmower does not move forward or reverse.

the freewheel control is in the wrong position. push in all the way for mowing. This control is located on the rear of the mower below the seat.

Stalls when engage blades in forward, but cuts fine in reverse

Did you try to disengage the safety feature that should shut the tractor off when the blades are engaged and the tractor is placed in reverse? I believe that it is located under the shift leaver
