What can I do besides buy a new printer?

I have a similar problem. The carriage WAS stuck on the left hand side, but I discovered this was due to the color cartridge having fallen slightly out of its cradle. Although it wasn't easy to get to, I did manage to push it back in and move the carriage over. Now the carriage seems to be getting stuck trying to moving from the right hand side of the printer to the left hand side, but there is no obvious obstruction, and the cartridges are correctly installed. I can move it, but only by lifting the carriage slightly. Help!

  1. Press the Power button (HP C3150 Cartridge stuck - c01575386.gif ) to turn the product on, if it is not already on.
  2. Open the cartridge door. The carriage might try to move into the access area at the right. Allow it to move to that position.
  3. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent.
  4. Without turning off the product, disconnect the power cord from the back of the product. WARNING: You will move parts by hand in the following steps. You must disconnect the power cord to eliminate the risk of an electrical shock and to reset the paper-feed mechanism.
  5. Looking in through either the cartridge door or the output tray, make sure the cartridges have not come loose in the carriage. Push each cartridge inward to securely lock them in place.
  6. Check for and remove any obstructions under or around the carriage that might prevent it from moving.
  7. Make sure the carriage can move freely across the width of the product by firmly pushing the carriage to the left, and then to the right.
  8. Close the cartridge door.
  9. Reconnect the power cord to the back of the product.
  10. Press the Power button (c01575386.gif ) to turn on the product.
  11. Allow the product to warm up, and then try the print job again.
  12. Check the cartridges for damage: NOTE: The product must be on or it will not release the cartridges.
  13. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent, and then lightly press down on a cartridge to release it. Pull the cartridge toward you out of its slot.
    • The tri-color cartridge is on the left.
    • The black cartridge is on the right.
  14. Check the cartridges for damage, and then replace any damaged cartridges. Check for obstructions under and around the carriage. CAUTION: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.
  15. Follow these instructions to install the cartridges correctly.
    1. If you are installing a new cartridge, remove the cartridge from the packaging, and then remove the pink-protective tape.
    2. Hold the cartridge by its sides, with the contacts facing into the carriage.
    3. Slide the cartridge at a slight upward angle into the empty slot, and then gently push it until it snaps into place.
      • To install a tri-color cartridge, insert it into the left slot.
      • To install a black cartridge, insert it into the right slot. If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
        Thanks, Joe

Hp photosmart c3150 keeps color light and check cartridge light keeps bliking after replacing with a new one.

It sounds like you ink cartridge is electrically bad; you can run the diagnostic 'tap 41' test to confirm. The HP 31xx printer 'access procedure' will be very similar to this HP Fxxx series access procedure:

Blocked cartridge on my c3150 hp printer

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.

My hp photosmart c3150 just prints blank pages what do i do

Hi,
Turn the printer on and off. Disconnect the usb connections and restart your PC.
Turn the printer on and try printing.
Check the cartridges. They maybe low on ink or even dry.
If the cartridges are fine, remove the black cartridge from its slot on the right and check its nozzles for damages.Make sure the plastic tape usually on it when new has been fully removed.Slide the cartridge back into the slot and push it forward till it clicks. Please do the same with the other cartridge.
Remember to replace any used cartridges.

Hope this helps.Thanks!

Need to open the c3150 to remove incorrectly inserted cartridge

With the unit on, open the cartridge door on the front below the scanner and above the paper tray. If the carriage doesn't move to the right, turn the printer off and then back on. When the carriage is on the right, press down lightly on the cartridge to release it and then pull it out. (I don't know if an improperly inserted cartridge will come out as easily but do not use a lot of force. Too much force could damage the carriage and you would need to replace the print head.)

If the carriage is not moving, check for foreign objects in the path.

I hope this helps.

Need to change cartridge but cannot open to reach

Your computer came with software that should be installed in your computer. Look for this software and there should be an option that will align the cartridges so you can replace the old one. If you do nota have this software installed, install it. If you do not have the CD with this software, download it from your printer's manufacturer site.

C3150 print cartridge

  • Remove the cartridges.
  • Turn off the printer.
  • If the cartridges are leaking, put the print head on some tissue, so it can extract the excess ink. With a dry cloth, clean your scanner. Look inside the printer. If there is ink in there too, clean it. Use a lot of tissue or toilet paper. Might put some gloves on too.
  • When you make sure that the cartridges are not leaking anymore, gently wipe the electric contacts on them, and clean the ones on the cartridge carrier.
  • Turn the printer on.
  • Try printing.
  • If the cartridge light keeps flashing:
  1. If a computer message indicates a specific cartridge, that is the problem cartridge.
  2. If there is no computer message, look at the Start Copy lights - if the Black Start Copy light is blinking, the cartridge on the right is the problem cartridge.
  3. If the Color Start Copy light is blinking, the cartridge on the left is the problem cartridge.
If you find out which cartridge is the problem, you will need to replace it.
Unfortunately, the ink that has leaked inside, might have damaged your printer.

Cartridge cradle stuck

Hey chips 53 Very simple, Go to the market and purchase a set of screw driver of long sleek neck (for star screw). and open the four screw present four different side in the printer. After open the screw, open that door, from where you insert the cartridge. insert your hand into the printer and lift the portion upside. Remember you have to lift equally (but slowly-slowly) if you see that the upper body is separating, you have to concentrate to lift the portion from right side because wires has been attached left side. After removing the upper portion you can easily move the carriage. And do what you want
