My 32" coby does the same. I'll hit power and the blue light brightens like the TV is going to turn on but then it just dins again. Could take up to an hour or more and too many tries to turn the dang thang on. I've had it for 2 yrs now and just don't watch enough tv to want to spend money on a new one. Here is what I have found to work. 1. Never turn your tv off. I put it on mute when I go to bed. 2. If TV does turn off due to power or whatever, I found that using a power surge cord and ONLY plugging in the TV cord works. It turns on for me within 5-6 tries. When more than one item is plugged in it will take forever to turn on. Hope this helps.

I had a 32" Coby that did the same thing, turned out to be a defective main board. The main board wasn't sending the 3.3v signal to wake up the power supply. In my case I sold the tv for parts because it wasn't cost effective to replace the main board. It sound like your main board

Bad/Going Bad/Will go horribly bad TCON board (small circuit board sitting at the top of the panel in the back).

Most likely, the whole panel will need to be replaced in order to rectify the issue.

SOURCE: hdtv lcd 40 in. broken screen face

You can have them repaired using a TV Repair guy but often it costs as much as a brand new tv. My daughter broke my $1,600 LCD. It would have cost $1,200 to fix.. so I just bought a new one. After that I picked up a TV screen protector called TV Armor http://www.tv-armor.com Its designed to protect the TV from damage. Now I dont have to worry anymore when she is playing near it. It works really well.

Hi brendafoud, have you had this fixed as mine is the same and has been for months. It happened just after the warranty had ran out(typical). Bought from ebay and the people I got it from are not very helpfull. Have you got yours fixed yet?

My coby tftv3227 tv won't turn on and has no sound plugged it in new power source and still nothing what to do?

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:

ISSUES:

1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.
2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.
3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.
4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.

Answers to issues:

1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.

2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not.

Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom.

What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.

3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have to buyand try a board to see if it fixes it or not.

4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.If set is opened at least look for puffed up and bad caps like in thisphoto.5_27_2012_5_44_12_pm.jpg5_27_2012_5_44_31_pm.jpg

Coby 40" Wont turn on

I'd add something to this. We had the same issue with a 40" coby. We'd declared it dead and after a few days turned it on again to show the problem before trashing it. The TV came on. We've since learned that there seems to be a HDMI handshake issue related to this tv. If you turn it off with HDMI devices still sending a signal, it will periodically return to this point, and take a day before it will turn back on (I guess until the caps are fully drained.) If you turn the TV off first and then devices however, this never seems to happen. Dunno if this is the same for others, but I'm curious

Vizio HDTV E3DB420VX wont turn on

If your power indicator isn't lighting up, you don't have your 5vdc standby power. You're most likely looking at a power supply issue. Did this happen after a T-storm???

When I turn the set off with the remote the blue led light goes out Does this mean the power is actually off or is the set still on standby If so do I really need to buy a 40 pounds power management...

Every TV set are going to standby if you shut it down and it is ready to start again (inside power work on minimum for starting electronic). It don't need some additive power management kit to work. But I would like to have some protection on power line cable for storm solutions.
