Hitachi model 42V715 television close caption problem

Somehow, the close caption has remained on - regardless of going to setup and turning it off, or using the cc button and selecting. The program says close caption "off", but, remains on -

Have done both - however, I just saw something in the setup guide that talks about digital captions - would that affect it?

Hello ccharewicz, After you apply the cc settings do you turn the tv off and then back on. Also have you tried unpluging it from the outlet, sometimes either of these work, if they don't then please post again and i'll continue to look into the problem.
-I look forward to your post

Why is there closed circuit translation of the dialogue on the screen?

Sounds like somehow the closed caption feature got turned on. If you go to the menu on the remote and go to display there should be an option to turn closed caption off.

I can't turn on closed captioning on Hitachi with Comcast scientific atlanta explorer 2200 cable box. Any words of wisdom?

Both the set and the box used should have the closed caption feature.

If box is in line to rear audio/video jacks you will have to engage the CC from the box.

I doubt it will work if hooked that way from within the box---go to menu and in CC area in either set or box select CC1 which is the most common one used.

We have a 40" Hitachi ultra vision model # 42HDT52 plasma screen TV. We have never been able to remove the " written words" off the screen used for the deaf. We have comcast if you need to know that. Terri...

Closed Caption has to be in the menu on the set. Go under the Audio section, find CC and turn it off. This will be the same if you are using a Cable box. They also will have a closed caption setting.

Projection TV

You will probably find the captioning is turned on in the cable box and that's why you haven't been able to get rid of it through the TV. The box remote control should allow you to access the setup menu so you can turn off the captioning. Your cable company should be able to help you if it's not clear from the on-screen information.

Somehow you have turned on closed captioning in TEXT mode. Navigate the setup menus to find the closed captioning options and turn it off.

That should resolve the problem.

When you enter the menu for setup, you have to go to another window in setup, use the remote to access next window.

Did you check your cable box or satellte box set-up? I thought I had the same problem on my Hitachi 46F500 but it ended up being my Comcast box was set-up to display closed captioning on the component video output ONLY. Hope this helps...
