Problem with a Sony KLV-26HG2 LCD tv switching on for 2 secs then switching off/ flashing standby light

Tv turns on, picture on screen for about 2 secs, then goes blank, red stand-by light flashes 1sec on/1 sec off. Used to work well but hasn't been used for about a year

Yes. My Sharp 60” LCD had same issue about a year after buying it in 2013. I counted the blinking codes and Googled my TV brand nane and model. Confirmed the power supply had gone bad. I ordered a new one and installed it myself. Has worked perfectly ever since without any issues. Good Luck!

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices

SOURCE: Dark horizontal lines on Sony KLV-26HG2 LCD TV screen

Hello,

If you can fix it by yourself, there is a problem in horizontal circuit panel, you need to check that in series because the part appear visbly good but when tested by the exact tester you register busted. that should be replaced immediately. Check also the vertical panel parts of the circuit. but if hard you do the job you may consult the service center of your TV or the vendor of the TV.

ps. please don't rate me if you are not convince of my suggestion.

best regards, melnavz

SOURCE: Sony KV34XBR800 Red Flashing Standby Light No Power

The red light should be blinking a code. For example it will blink 4 times pause then 4 times pause or 5times pause 5 times pause, whatever the error might be. Let me know what it is and then we can help more.

SOURCE: Sony Vega KDF-E5OA10,picture will not come on, tv goes off.

There is a real good chance that the lamp fan is not turning. If you look with a flashlight in the vent on the left side looking at the rear of the set and have someone turn on the unit, see if it spins. if it doesnt, the protect circuit in the tv will not let the set turn on. Replacing the fan will cure the proplem if it is not turning.
Hope this helps,

Sony KLV-46S200A LCD TV doesn't turn on, it remains blank with the red standby lighthouse blinking 4 times.

According to the service manual page 6. four flashes is "Backlight Trouble" so if its the light it self or Backlight Inverter Board i cannot tell you.

Service manual can be downloadet here.
