ViewSonic Monitor Flickers

I got a ViewSonic VA902b Monitor and I'm connecting it to my MacBook Pro. When I turn the monitor on it will turn on and I can see the wallpaper, but it immediately in 1 sec being on turns off. Could it be some sort of fuse?

Same problem.. I ended up buying another which works fine, so it definitely is the monitor. It will flash on for a second or so and blank. I know that system is booting and goes to windows vista. Would love to fix the old monitor.

Exact same problem here... Comes on for 1/2 second and then goes blank. Turning the monitor off and back on repeatly gets me that 1/2 second look over and over, but it's not real efficient in getting my work done.

I have a viewsonic va902b screen when I turn it on the picture flashes and wont stay on the screen, how do I fix it?

More likely to have bad caps in the power supply, that is the first place to check for bad caps with bulging top, it can also be bad inverter circuits, or bad lamps, open it up and post back what you see so we can guide you further, see example of failed VIEWSONIC monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

The problem can be in the backlight inverter circuits, look fo bad caps with bulging tops, look to see if you do have 12vdc feeding the inverter circuits. See some examples of failed monitors here: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

I have a ViewSonic VA902b that will flash a good screen if I turn if off and on but otherwise just black. I traded it out with the monitor from another computer and it does the same thing on the other...

Hi.

To start test the problem on a different main outlet, if the socket or the network in the house is not well earthed you may get this problem.

The problem is given by an internal faulty component, probably a faulty capacitor.

When you unplug and plug back, the electrostatic charges in internal circuit will get drained, and this will compensate the fault.

The monitor must be tested at component level to find the fault.

Monitor Flickering and Sharpness control is disabled

it will probably be the graphics driver you need to update as XP probably loaded generic a graphic driver. The monitor should be ok with a standard driver.
