Zebra S600 Tear position adjustment won't stay put

When I follow the instructions to adjust the "media rest" position everything appears to work well. However, when I print the next label it reverts back to the same spot, before adjusting the position

To be sure we're talking about the same thing, you pressed MODE twice, then used UP and DOWN to align it, right?

Have you checked your Printer Preferences and Printer Defaults? Could be a label size setting somewhere. Preferences follow the Windows user, Defaults follow the print device.

Try to restore factory settings if all else fails. I have to do this quite often. Best to start with a clean slate.

Here's the manual if you need it:

Zebra 90XiII - sometimes when adjusting the tear off position using the arrow keys. The printer (motor) doesn't move the label media in/out. When it does actually move the label media to the desired...

Print a configuration label and see if it is in the correct mode - tear off mode. If it is in rewind or peel off, then the label is not suppose to come out to the cut bar, but stop under the print head and not backup.
If you want it to align with the cut bar make sure that the driver is set for tear off with backup enabled. The printer driver in the software will override the printer setting and change it as soon as you send a print job.

Zebra S600 will not do anything???

Emma, I can assist but this is slightly technical. The issue more than likely is the print head sensor flag is out of position. If you have the print head all the way down & purple toggle in the locked position but the print head light still flashed then more than likely it is the flag that came loose. To correct it means you have to remove the left side cover where the logic board is. Make sure to remove power cord & all communication cables & connectors prior to cover removal for your safety. After the cover is removed you will see the logic board. On the upper right corner area will be a SCREW with a black "L" shaped piece of plastic, this is the flag. At this point make sure the print head is down & locked. Place the flag in the horizontal position, which should be between the sensor positions, While holding retighten the screw. Once tight open & close the print head to see the flag move up & down between the sensors. Place the cover back on but put 1 screw in only so you can test. If all works put the rest of the screws in & continue to work. If not then update this & I will get back with you.

Zebra 105se label length is wrong

But physically measuring the label 1252? You can also disable the calibration options and then use the command ^XA^ LL1252^XZ. Also try to download the latest firmware for your printer.

After cutting the label the printer pulls media back about 1/2''

you can adjust the tear off position.
check if need the backfeed and what setting, if you need, you be able to stop doing that (no back feed) but can change the print on the lable.

Zebra S600 Thermal Ribbon Ripping after printing

Hi chunnon,

What darkness setting are you using? If the darkness is at or near 30, you may be burning through the ribbon.

Try defaulting the printer and running a Pause test. Does the ribbon tear during the Pause test?

Zebra S600 printer continues calibrating

The factory default settings for the S600 is to auto calibrate every time the printhead is closed and every time the power is cycled. If the media sensor is not positioned correctly for the media you are using the label size will not be detected during a calibration. You mentioned the media has no markings, doe sthe media have a space between the labels? If so, the media sensor may not see the gap in the labels adn therefor is not calibrating properly or not calibrating at all. Check the media sensor position. I have found that the media sensor must be at least 1" from the inner wall of the printer so it doesn't see the edge of the backing in oder to read the size of the labels.

Reg. zebra S600 lable

I had this happen when I changed from one label to a different size label. It needs to be calibrated. There are several types of calibration to do to the S600. Here is the solution that worked for me.
  1. Check the position of the laser Media Sensor (figure 13). It may need to be moved to match the type of label that will be printed.
For CARD labels, the media sensor needs to be set at the edge of the card so it can “see through” the notch that is cut on the edge where the perforation is.

    1. For STICKY labels, it can “see through” the backing which shows between each sticky label, so the Media Sensor could be set anywhere for it to work, but will probably be set towards the middle.
Set to Factory Defaults. This is so that all of the following steps will work. I do not need to change the steps based on the type of mode that printer is set up in because it will erase all that by setting it to the factory default. (See figure 14 for buttons)

    1. Turn off the printer.
    2. Hold the FEED and PAUSE buttons down as the printer power is turned on.
    3. Press MODE button four times.
    4. When the defaults are saved to the printer, the CALIBRATE, DARKER, and POSITION lights will all flash.
Test to see if the calibration is set correctly for the label. If not, proceed to the following steps.

  1. Do a Manual Calibration.
Turn off the printer.
    1. Hold the PAUSE, FEED, and CANCEL buttons down as the printer power is turned on, keeping the buttons depressed.
    2. This will run through several labels and do some printing.
    3. Release all three buttons after the CALIBRATION light comes on and then goes back off.
Put the printer into Auto-Calibration Mode.

    1. Turn off the printer.
    2. Hold PAUSE, CANCEL, and MODE down as the printer power is turned on.
    3. Release the buttons after printer is powered on.
