Hi, I have an Olympus 850SW shock/waterproof camera - when I look at the photos on my camera (with the memory stick inserted) there are about 70 pics, however when I connect the camera to the computer (with the memory stick still inserted into the camera) there are heaps more photos........my problem is that I have received a digital photo frame for my bday 2day and when I put the memory stick into it, it only shows the 70pics, where have all the other ones gone?? Even when I look at the pics straight on my camera only the 70 come up and not the others?? Hope someone can help me with this..thankyou Tracey.
Thank you, can you also tell me how to do this, where is the top most layer directory on the memory stick?Thank you, can you also tell me how to do this, where is the top most layer directory on the memory stick?

A lot of cameras these days use sub directory folders on the memory stick. Try using a computer to drag all the photos to the top most layer directory on the memory stick.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

There are most likely some "corrupted" images on your xD card. Very often a card reader "writes" data to the card while transferring or copying images into the computer. When you re-insert the card back into the camera, it doesn't recognize the new data (because it didn't create it), and gives the error, usually requiring a complete formatting be performed. There are also problems if you use a reader to rotate images, then re-install the card in the camera. The best way to accomplish what you were doing is to transfer the images into a folder on your computer, as the camera shot them (don't rotate them first). That way, you haven't altered any data on the card. For now, however, I suggest you format the card in the camera, so you can start with a "clean slate". Good luck.
Sounds as if the memory card has corrupted data on it now. You will need to format the memory card. This will permanently erase all the data from the card and then you will be able to use it again. To format the card: Press the Menu button - right arrow to Setup Menu - right arrow to Format- Press Ok. You will see format yes or no. Choose Yes and press ok. This will clear the write protect and picture error messages and the card can be used again.
You probably know by now that the 850SW is waterproof, shockproof and also stands up in freezing conditions. I am just writing because I am very happy with mine and would highly recommend it for your active boyfriend. We have gotten many great pictures with it in the water and the kids have been pretty rough with it at times.
Olympus also has newer versions of this camera, the 1030SW and the 1050SW. I saw the 1050SW today at Costco for just 229.99.
Hi,
Insert memory card in camera, go to camera menu, there is option Copy, select copy and transfer images from internal memory to memory stick.
2nd option is connect camera to computer
by usb link without memory stick, go to my computer then removable
disk, then picture folder, copy pictures and paste them on My Pictures.
Need further help, let me know.
