Hello, Im having problems printing in my Canon MP 140, the color ink es empty and I dont have a way to get a new one untill tomorow, but the black ink is full and I need to print a document, I dont need color ink, but my printer still wont print!! It says that there is no color ink, but it dosent need any. My cuestion is, is there any way to make it print just in black?
To print without color ink go to START>control panel>PRINTERS & OTHER HARDWARES>PRINTERS & FAXES>Right click to your printer>PROPERTIES>MAINTAINANCE>INK CARTRIDGE SETTING>then select BLACK ONLY. I think it fix your problem.

E4 says the ink is empty, sometimes you can print if you just press and hold the OK button for a few seconds, but if the error doesn't clear, you will have to replace the color ink before you can print in just black.
A Canon MP145 E4 Error Code means that your Printer didn't detect the Ink Cartrigde. It sometimes happen when you're using a non-original cartridge or infusing it. When Canon Printer detect this abnormality, the first Canon self defense system is by Stop Printing. And then displaying some messages on your Computer Screen, indicating that your ink cartridge have to be replaced because it's EMPTY.
Below are the manual way to correct this problem :
1. Turn On Your Printer.
2. Wait Till The Printer Led Screen Show The Error Code ( E4).
3. Then Press and Hold Black & Color Button for about 5 - 10 seconds.

It WOULDNT work without a colour cartridge inserted. It MAY just work with an EMPTY colour cartdridge (the only printing black) but it just would not work without a colour cartridge in there
hello yah that tool dont work on this model what u can do is buy a new cartridge non genuine ink work fine on this printer very easy to refill to because original cartridge cost a lot u can also try to hold down stop reset button for more than 5 seconds it will override ink level check
