It seems that your car stereo thinks that the phone is off the hook and that you are using it. Probably in the wires is a pair of wires that need to be connected together in order to simulate an on hook condition. In order to see which of these wires are the two, you will need a schematic or wiring diagram. DO NOT start shorting wires together until you get the desired effect. You will almost certainly fry something if you do. If there are only two wires total then you might try connecting them for just a moment while the display reads "phone" and see if the message goes away. Good luck.

I has a dog chew on my cord.is .I'd like to fix it

If the bare wire is not showing, just wrap with black electric tape. If the bare wire is showing then
1. remove the insulation from the two wires about 1 inch on each side of the cut.
2. Go to a hardware store and get some wire nuts (small), twist the two ends together and screw on the wire nut.
3. Do the same thing to the other wire. Now take black electrical tape and tape each wire nut down the wire about 1/2 inch.
4. Tape both wire nuts together with electrical tape and the wire strands to the insulation and up the insulation about 1 inch.

How much space should i leave between loops on roof tape?

1st You must know that you can attach the heat tape by spiral wrapping, or by straight run (in- line with the pipe); held temporarily with a few pieces of tape. Of course you will need to apply an insulating wrap (in either case).
The straight run gives the least heat per foot but covers more pipe. The tighter (closer) the spiral wrap of the heat tape loops, the more heat per foot but the shorter the coverage. If the pipe is 1/2" or 3/4" DIAM. then a straight run is sufficient. If 1" to 1 1/4" then a very wide spiral. If 1 1/2 to 2" then a closer loop spiral. In no case should the loops touch each other nor be closer than 3/4" to each other. And avoid having the heat tape cross itself at valves, elbows, etc. PLease note that this is all based on winter temps of 0 degree F. or above and using normal 1" THICK WRAP INSULATION. If you have temps down to -30 or so, then give minimum 2" thick insulation.
Good Luck Macgivor.

02 5 series bmw stereo

Hello rbs845,

Most vehicle audio integrated phones use a ground on a specific wire from the receiver to activate the "mute" function. If the wire contacts other wires or shorts to ground, it can cause the receiver to signal an incoming call or mute. Without the exact make and model of the receiver, it's not possible to point you to a specific wire color to look for. I'd make sure that ALL wires that are not used are securely insulated and kept from touching other wires or metal behind the dash.

Hope this helps.

Cut extension cord

This happens a lot with circular saws too.

You can strip off the insulation from each side of the cut and connect the wires (be sure to match colors!) and wrap the whole assembly in electrical tape, but you really are best off replacing the cord.

If you do repair it, tie a knot in the cord so there's no stress on your repair job when you tug on the cord.

I just did some reading and found out the name of the knot you want is actually the "Euro death-knot" (best example is in this picture)

Tie it with the cut ends just like the ropes in the picture, then do your splice job on the ends of the wires.

Dog chewed cord on bissell model 6579-2 how do I replace it?

You can cut the bad section of wire out of the cord, cut the insulation on the cord to get to the wires. Match your colors, strip the insulation from the individual wires and twist together. Wrap each wire with electrical tape (making sure no wire is exposed, can be a fire hazard), then wrap the cord with electrical tape. The cord will be a little shorter, but should work fine.
