When I stack several papers on the tray to be copied or faxed, some sheets of paper do not go through separately-- this occurs almost all the time, and even when the paper is not bent or wrinkled in any way. I bought this copier so I could fax or copy from the stacking tray. Any suggestions?
There is a small rubber pad in the scanner that is worn and needs replaced.
Its called a retard pad, it retards the feed of sheets of paper.
Once worn, the machine will feed 2 or 3 or 10 sheets all at once.
Its an easy replacement.
that IS your problem.

this is caused due to the pickup rollers and seperation pads being worn. if you run your fingers across them you will no dobt find that they are very smooth and thats the problem. the rollers and pads need to be rough so that they can cause friction against eachother to seperate the pages. it does not matter whatso ever the quality of the paper, if they are worn it will do it on the most expensive stuff as well.
Hope this helps

Clean the pickup roller to clean rather than replace it: remove pickup roller ( check pictures of your printer to see where it is) dab a lint-free cloth in a very small amount of water scrub the roller
Hi This is a common problem, not only with your printer, but most at some time or other. In part it seems you get what you pay for, in that if you buy premium paper (business grade 40 mil), you normally have less problems. The paper is drawn into the printer by a rubber or compacted foam roller, and sometimes the paper sheets will sick to each other, and more than one will be drawn in. The best thing to do if you are using less expensive paper, or even the expensive stuff, is to "fan" the stack of paper several times with your thumb, at the end that will face the rollers, and also don't let the stack get down to only 3 or 4 sheets, as the problem is worse near the bottom of the stack. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
