Dell A920 won't print envelopes

My Dell A920 prints everything except envelopes very nicely. When I use the format in Microsoft Works with return address and addressee and click print everything normal happens except the printer puts NO INK on the envelope or anywhere else. It makes the printing noises and the window showing ink levels and print progress etc is up there but when the envelope comes out is it blank!!!

Hi - I'm using Windows Xp with MSOffice 2000. Same issue - My Lexmark makes all the right noises and spits out the envelope with no ink on it. I tried a blank sheet of paper. Same result. No ink on paper. Any thoughts appreciated

My envelopes have printed correctly for years, however this Dec. the print is faint and green and red. If I print on paper, it prints black. What has happened to my Dell A920?

I have(had) the same problem using the Dell A920 printer on a Dell compunter running XP. After spending a hour trying to find a solution on the internet, I finally found a solution on my own. When ready to print a envelope. Go to File/Print Click Properties button In lower right hand corner, check "Print Color Image in Black and White" box Click OK button Click OK in print pop up When finished, repeat to uncheck "Print Color Image in Black and White" box to allow for color printing.

I suspect Works thinks your envelope is 8.5 x 11 or thinks your envelope is oriented in the opposite direction (long end first instead of narrow end) and is "printing" on air. Try printing the same job again except use a standard piece of paper and I'll bet you see something. I haven't used Works in years but its basically a stripped down version of Word. If you?re using the envelope printing tool there should be an options or printing orientation section. Make sure you've got the envelope orientation set correctly here.

How do I get A920 All-in-One to connect?

Hi Doris,
Please make sure the Operating System you are using corresponds with the printer driver. In other words, make sure the driver you're installing is compatible with the Operating System on your PC.
Check out your Operating System's compatible drivers for downloads from this Dell support site.
Make sure you unlock the scanner bed by pushing the scanner lock down.
Check the USB cable connections and make sure its secure.
If problem persists, return the product if still on warrant.

Hope this helps.Thanks!

How to print envelopes

1.Buy envelopes at any office supply store. They come in all shapes, sizes, textures and colors, so choose ones that go with the type of invitation you are sending out.

2.Open Microsoft Word 2007 and click on the Mailings tab.

3.Click on Envelopes in the Create section.

4.Click on the Envelopes tab when the Envelopes and Labels box comes up. The box will probably come up with the Envelopes tab open, so you may not need to do this.

5.Enter the recipient's address in the Delivery Address box. Invitation envelopes should include the names of everyone invited--for example: Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Smith and family. Don't worry about the font at this point--you can change it later.

6.Enter your return address in the Return Address box. As with the Delivery Address, you can change the font later.

7.Click on Options. Use the drop-down menu in the Envelope Options tab to change the size of the envelope if needed. The packaging of the envelopes that you purchased will have information about the size of the envelopes. It is very important that you choose the correct size so that the envelopes print correctly.

8.Adjust the font of the delivery and return addresses. Click on Font in each section and change the font style or size. You can also bold, italicize or choose other options regarding the font.

9.Adjust the placement of the delivery and return addresses on the envelopes. In each section, click the arrows in the "From left" or "From top" boxes. In the preview section below, you can see the movement of the addresses as you adjust the placement. Line up everything so that it looks good to you.

10.Click on the Printing Options tab. This is important because you must select how you feed the envelopes into your printer. Choose the correct way that they are fed, whether they are fed into the printer face up or face down, and if they should be fed in manually. This will all depend on your specific printer. Consult your owner's manual for this information if you are unsure. Click OK and you will return to the Envelopes and Labels box.

11.Insert the envelopes into your printer. Click Print once you have everything formatted and arranged how you want. You should print one envelope first to make sure the layout is correct. Once you've confirmed it printed correctly, print all your envelopes.

Everytime I try to print an envelope using my Canon imageRUNNER 1023iF I get an error message. I'm using a Microsoft Works Word Processing program. I have loaded the envelope tray and nothing happens...

To get rid of error, unplug machine.
Sett. the correct paper size ( size of envelope ), paper type (envelope ), both on printer properties ( when you prompted to print ) and on machine ( when you put envelope on bypass, machine auto ask you ).
Do not forget to tell printer that he needs to take paper from bypass ( printer properties )

Hope that helped

Envelope jam HP Officejet 8500

Hi,

Try to print envelope through Microsoft Word

Steps:-

1) Click Tools , click Letters and Mailings and then click Envelopes and Labels .
2) Type the Delivery and Return address information.
3) Click Options .
4) On the Envelope Options tab, set the following options:-
  • Envelope size : set to match the loaded envelopes.
  • US only : if desired, select the Delivery point barcode to make it easier for mail sorting machinery to correctly route the envelope.
  • Return address : for Size 10 envelopes only, set the Return Address position .8 inch in the From left section.
5) Select the Printing Options tab and verify that the following settings are selected:
  • Select the Feed Method option that shows the envelope on the far right side with the short edge first.
  • Select Face down .
  • Examine the selected feed method image and verify that the envelope flap is on the left side of the envelope. If it is on the right, select or deselect Clockwise rotation.
6) Click OK and then click Print .

As envelop can not feed correctly every time, it depends on the weight, flap design, paper type and other factors & cause jam, To prevent those you can do.
  • Print envelopes at a higher quality setting so envelope is pulled through the unit more slowly. e.g:- Switch fast to slow mode or slow to best mode.
  • Tuck the flap inside the envelope before loading it into the printer.

Have a nice day...don't forget to rate the solution.

The green buttton on my Dell 725 printer is flashing and it will not print. I have tried unplugging everything as suggested, but am still having no luck.

I have this same problem, except with the Dell AIO A920 Printer. It started when I experienced a paper jam and tried canceling the print order in the queue. I've tried every possible way to try and bring the printer out of this comatose state it's in, and nothing doing. I'm about ready to get a new printer. I guess this is what you get with a cheap printer Dell threw in free with a larger order.

Printing small envelopes

In Word 2007, use the Mailing > Envelopes > Options section.

In 2003 I think it was under Tools > Envelopes & Mailings > Options.

There you'll be able to specify if the manual feed is top first or edge first, to the left, centered, or to the right, and how far over and down to place the address and return address.

After a few adjustment runs, it works great.

My lexmark will print page, business cards, labels, pics, etc. But it will not print envelopes. Looks, sounds, and acts like its printing. But when it spits out the envelope nothing is printed on it.

There must be an issue with the size of the envelope the printer is expecting. If you're using Microsoft Word, check under "Letters and Mailings" and then "Evevolopes and Labels" to check the size you have set the envelope to. Perhaps its also a setting in File and Page Setup or in the printers own settings under Control Panel and Printers. Sorry for not being of more help but if its not jamming or giving an error then its probably just set to the wrong envelope size.
