Nikon d300 won't take pictures

Try to autofocus first by half press the shutter button, after focus confirmed then fully push the shutter button. Basically camera won't take picture if the focus not focused correctly.

Shutter clicks ever time I press a button & it won't take pictures

I had this problem this afternoon, and it resolved itself when I took the memory card out. It's been fine so far, all working as normal again! :)

My pentax w90 will only take a photo automatically when turned on,

Per Evan89's remark above, on these units the "shutter" button fails in the "on" or "down" position. There are a lot of reports on the internet. As soon as you turn the camera on it charges the flash and takes one or more pictures. It won't respond to other controls because it senses that the shutter bitton is depressed. A side effect is that the battery drains quickly.
I'm looking around to see if I can order a replacement switch assembly since these cameras are easy to take apart.

Our camera seems to be okay but when i'm attempting to get picture, i can't see any image in LCD, is it the lens?

First try pressing the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. If that doesn't help, try taking a picture with the screen black. Is the picture also black? If so, a stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

The shoot button has popped off. It won't stay on the camera. If I stick a needle down the hole it will take a picture, so the camera works fine. It's just the button

Please don't stick anything in there to take a picture, especially a needle!! Your shutter button needs to be replaced, its a very common defect on this camera.

There is only one place that will install a new solid aluminum shutter button post and guarantee it will never break again! How do I know? Because I've been repairing them since 2006 and I own the shop with the aluminum posts!

By the way, my wife happens to own a SD1000. Great little camera, but it's prone to stuck shutter every once and a while. Easily fixed each time though by simply opening the battery door while on, and gently flicking the lens barrel a few times. Again, see the link.

Black screen

First try pressing the DISP or DISPLAY button. If that didn't work, have you tried downloading the photos, and are they also black? If so, a stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help. Finally if the photos are fine, and it's just that the screen is black, then it's likely just a loose ribbon cable connector to the screen. In that case, you would need to opne up the camera to reseat the cable.
