My HE4T dryer is giving me problems. The drum light comes on when you open the door, but the display panel is intermitent. Right now the panel is completely dead. It did this about a week ago, but after opening and shutting the door about 15-20 times the lights came back on and the dryer worked again, until today.
Front Panel lights not working? Dryer inside light does work? I fixed this twice already on my dryer. Please read this whole explanation I live in New Orleans where the humidity is very high. I have a laundry room where my Washer and Dryer reside. Kenmore HE4T. I noticed that when I shut the laundry room door, my central A/C pulls hot air from outside the house via the dryer exhaust duct. This causes moisture to build on the inside of the dryer and especially the front control panel. Did you ever see moisture on your dryer?s door even when there were no clothes in it? The moisture collects on the Silicon board that controls the dyers function and basically causes a short. This is what I do to fix it. You will need a ¼ nut driver or socket. 1. Confirm that you have power to the dryer <- is the inside dryer light on when you open the door. YES- keep reading.. NO ? find the circuit breaker and reset it. 2. UNPUG THE DRYER! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! 3. Find the 3 screws in the back of the dryer that hold the dryer lid on. Unscrew them and slid the lid back and lift off. Is there moisture on the inside of the lid? 4. Find the 2 screws that hold down the front control panel. They should be silver and will be on top. Do not remove the inside gold screws. 5. Find the 3 screws that hold down the power control panel on the top left side of the dryer. Probably has a high voltage warning sticker on it. 6. Lift the power control panel (sheet metal) part and move it to the right so it lays on the dyers drum. There are some wires attached to it and unless you are a very handy person, I wouldn?t remove them. 7. Lift the front control panel straight up until it comes out of the dryer. There should be some wires that attach this piece to the power control panel. If you are handy, you can remove these 2 clip-on wires from the power control panel by squeezing the black connector locking clip and releasing it from the panel. 8. If you flip the control panel around you may notice moisture on the green silicon chips. Get a hairdryer and take your time to dry them. 9. Dry all components of the dryer with a hairdryer. 10. Put everything back together except for the lid and all the screws. Remember that the front control panel slides down first and then the power control panel sits on top second. Plug the dryer in and see if you get lights, but don?t start the dryer. Unplug the dryer and replace all the screws and the lid. The problem is that once the dryer gets wet from the moisture, it never dries enough for it to start working again. This is a bad design from Sears/Whirlpool. I learn my lesson that just because its more expensive doesn?t make it more better. I now keep my dryer and washer door open all the time even when there are no clothes in it. This lets the moisture escape into the house rather than collect in the dryer. I hope this helps at least one person. Thanks Jason Kennedy from New Orleans
Have a Kenmore HE4 dryer, have already had control panel replaced once and it started actingup again today. For what two control boards cost I can go buy a new dryer without all the electronics that break so easily.
My Kenmore HE4 model 110.8586 dryer, about 4 years old. Dryer stopped working...no lights on control panel at all. Power was ok, but no control panel lights. I read the account of our friend in New Orleans, and the only thing unusual about the day it stopped working was the extreme humidity up here in Wisconsin. Sure enough, dryer door was steamed up, and the dryer hadn't been used in days. Took it apart as he suggested, and dried it out. Works fine now, and I'll be leaving the door open on such humid days. Maybe look for a better backdraft damper?
I've had a Kenmore Elite HE4T Dryer for the past four years and it's
been working fine without a glitch until recently. A week ago, my dryer
stopped working. I pressed random buttons and somehow got it to start
again but yesterday, it stopped completely and I haven't been able to
restart it.
Now, the inside light still comes on but the control panel is almost
completely dead (I say almost because three buttons are still lit up:
"damp" indicator, the "normal cycle" button, and the "extra dry
modifier" indicator). When I press certain buttons, these three lights
go away, but otherwise, my panel seems unresponsive.
I've tried drying the control panel in case there was any moisture
(didn't work) and I drained the battery and restarted it (also didn't
work). Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem may be
or what I should do next?

I had the same problem this week. If your dryer is doing the same beeping like in the youtube video, I will save you the $129 house call that takes 20 mins.
If you can take a hair dryer to the top part of the dryer to get it work (like in the you tube video)....Yep, *********** board is dead. Just find your color and order the part through partsdepot (sears). DONT ORDER FROM THE SEARS TRUCK...it will cost you an extra $100. The Sears guy quoted me $436 after labor to install. I asked and he confirmed with me the part number (8558763 blue) went online and found the same board for $230.
Just a few nuts and you can lift out the board. If you can connect your home theater system you can dis/re-connect this new mother board.

My dryer HE3t will light up and all the buttons work, but when I push start, I get a single beep and a click that sounds like it is coming from the top left, Help
Similar issue, but HE4 here, and I know I had a humidity prob, thanks to a loose dryer vent I was having difficulty repairing. Same as above: panel lights up, push start, single beep/click, but no tumble. And it will count down time and beep when it's done. Was having that intermittent 3 beeps when it was working. Think it's the control panel or switch in back? Wondering if I should invest in Master Protection agreement again if this is to be expected. :/

Ok folks the repair person like me uses the company part, You can order and save even with shipping. I use www.apdepot.com to find my parts and pay 35% less with shipping cost. You can use a hair dryer and still get the same issue again. The newer boards are getting better connections and some even resin coating to protect sensitive parts.
I just called a technician to come check this out and it is going to cost $300 for a dryer circuit board. I have called and complained about this to the corporate and they dont do anything about this!!!
You need a new control panel which is not cheap they had a really big problem with those control panels sears.com will let u price one and its a fairly easy repair need 1/4 in nutdrive and thats about it. take the top panel off and the side control board and unhook the ribbons to the panel and replace it be sure to take notice of any other wire u take off because if u switch the black and red u will have a big problem on that relay oh yea and unplug the dryer first! 240 v doesnt feel good

dryer works intermittently...light comes on. I had Sears out to fix it and repair man said vent needed cleaning but I know it doesn't. Cleaned it anyways and still have the same problem.
I have a Kenmore Elite HE4 Electric Dryer. I have the same problem: drum light is on (unit has power) but none of the buttons (settings, start) will work. This happened a week ago, but resolved itself.
I have also noticed that while the unit was running, it would beep intermittantly during it's cycle. Also, when the unit was not running, there would be a "22" on the screen, which would sometimes go away when I hit cancel, and sometimes, it would not. The unit is just over 2 years old.
dryer works when opening and closing the door but the power button and panel do not light up or work
I have replaced the bulb as well as the door switch and it the interior drum light will not come on when the door is opened. When it went bad, it dimmed for a short while and then went out completely.
