For a manual, try Google. Just put in "Smith Corona KA 13 WORD SMITH MANUAL'. If you can't find one there, then you are prabably out of luck. To change the margin simply go to the left margin, use the "backspace" or spacebar to position the print head where you want the margin set and then push the L MAR key. To change the right margin use the same procedure and hit the R MAR key.

SOURCE: the print does not correspond with the keys I hit

make sure corr. tape is installed properly and has tension on it, and the same with the ribbon so they don't interfere with the free rotation of the printwheel, make sure the petals on the printwheel arn't bent, otherwise will need a repair shop

The print head might have accummulated a lot of paper bits you need to clear them with a needle or just submerge the tip in petrol or ether. Caution do not submerge if its made of plastic.

SOURCE: Have a Smith Corona Electra 110. The ribbon doesn't turn.

Make sure that the ribbon has been intalled into the reverse guide forks on either side where the ribbon comes out of the spools. The ribbon should have a rivet in the fabric near the end of the ribbon so make sure you have the proper ribbon. The machine may require lubrication. You might also try taking the ribbon out and moving the R side to the Left just so you can type a little bit. Thsi may loosen the mechanism.

My Smith Corona PWP 55D is striking in the middle of the correct letter on the wheel and the next letter.

Question edited for clarity and spelling 'weel' > wheel.

You can try another font wheel, but it is likely to be the same. From a distant memory of using Daisy Wheel Printers, isn't there a setting you have to change depending on the pitch (size) of the font and wheel you are using? If not is likely needs cleaning, servicing and lubricating.

Smith Corona XL 1500. How do I insert ink ribbon? The spokes in typewriter appear too wide for cassette??

There is some help here and a manual to purchase for $8.95. You realise the keys only strike one at a time, dead centre of the cassette? They don't need much room.

https://www.google.com/search?q=smith+corona+xl+1500+manual

There appears to be three types of ribbon cassette!!

Replacing wheel with the letters & numbers

Replace with letters facing foreward (towards paper).
If there is no plastic printwheel lever then,
Push the print hammer shroud gently foreward until it "clicks".

When I type a letter it appears as two vertical lines but no letter

The hammer has two vertical pieces at the front, meant to strike the print wheel.
Do you have a font wheel in it?
