While backing up the contents to the computer I have mistakenly formatted the SD map (card) of my tom tom go 300 and then without knowing what I have done I send the device (without the map) to tom tom support centre. They send it back to me saying no problem found on the device. Pl help me if there is any way I can download the map. I don't have the back up on my computer. thanks

Question for you: How did you wind up with a navigator with no card and no maps? You might consider taking it back to the place you bought it and exchange it for one with the minimum necessary to make it work.
If you deleted your card your program is more than likely lost along with all of your maps. However never fear. If you had an account with tomtom you should be able to download a file from them that can update your sd card, But be aware they will probally charge you. Make sure to tell them that you were downloading one of THEIR updates.
If you backed up your tom tom then restore it from that backup. Two maps should not stop you from getting to the tom tom home web but may stop the home application working properly.
If you have an SD card in remove it and try again if all is good then try put the sd card in a reader rather than the tom tom and make the required deletions from there. Or if you DO have a backup then format the card properly and then restore to it whilst it is in the reader. Then put it back in the tom-tom and you should then be back to where you need
I saved the map on to my computer from the tom tom in Tom Tom Home and installed it on to a new SD card and now it working perfectly. I bought a 2mb SD card for £6.70 put it into a card reader and connected to computer and installed map and it gave me the instructions to put into device (Tom Tom) and switch on to connect then off and back into card reader to finish. Then I disconnected device which is important to do by the way put the new Sd card into Tom Tom and it is workink perfectly. I hope this help others who have problems.
more than likely, I just purchased a new tomtom sd card on ebay with all the new maps on it, ver.7 got it for a UK seller no problems, did you back it up on your computer? hopfully you did, then you can just connect it to tomtom home and reinstall it.
If you have TomTom that have the slot for SD card, then it should accepted the SD card. The instruction for how to use the SD card is simple, but it is hidden in the TomTom Home, that's why it's difficult to find it. Below are the instruction how to use the SD card.
1. Format the SD card (FAT32) and do not stick the SD in the slot yet
2. Run Backup (connect TomTom device to computer)
3. Disconnect TomTom from computer and turn off
4. Slide the SD into the slot and connect TomTom back to computer (choose "yes")
5. In the TomTom Home menu, Choosen Backup & Restore >>> and choosen Restore
TomTom Home will add all applications to the SD card. So the internal memory still have the applications and the SD card also had the same applications. Everytime you slide the card in, TomTom will automatic detect and use it as its primary storage, if it not detect, you can go to the device menu and pick the device to connect to.
Whenver you take the SD card out, then TomTom will use its internal memory.
Hi, i did the same thing with my tom tom 300 go, i fixed it by borrowing my mothers sd card from her tom tom 710, i put the card into a card reader and copied the hole card to my computer then copied it back onto my sd card out of my tomtom then put in mine and bingo it worked with all the fetchers that her tom tom had and the updated maps it still said it was a 300 but had the 710 stuff try this it worked for me it should work for you.
"My tom tom wonts switch on. I have reset it and still it comes on with a boom boom noise and shows the 2 hands on the screen. It also shows the loading bar at the bottom, but then it just freezes and nothing happens. can anyone help please ASAP"
Sound as though your Map data card is corrupt. Remove the SD card and check it with your computer using a card reader. Backup the SD card onto your computer. You can run either chkdsk or go to the drive letter under 'My Computer' right click and select properties, then tools, then check now. You can also try starting the Tomtom with the SD card out of the unit. It should show a picture of the Tomtom with a 'X'. You can also try copying the data on the SD card to another SD card.
