Sorry, took us a while to have time to try the DVD, but now nothing will show on the television. The power comes on, but nothing on the screen and no sound. The screen is completely black, it seems like the back light is not even coming on now.Sorry, took us a while to have time to try the DVD, but now nothing will show on the television. I have replaced the main system board on thei television, and the power board, and still have the intermittant outages - the longer it is on , the more often it occurs until finally it won't work. Leave it off for a day, it works again.I have replaced the main system board on thei television, and the power board, and still have the intermittant outages - the longer it is on , the more often it occurs until finally it won't work. Time to consider getting the set to a shop---a service call is likely a waste of time. Look for a shop that does warranty work for this brand even if set is not in warranty as they will be better equipped to fix the set.Time to consider getting the set to a shop---a service call is likely a waste of time.

I have a different Sony, but I think they all work the same. Go to menus (Press Home) Then select "Settings" and select "Screen Settings". Set Wide Mode to "full", Auto Wide to "off" , Auto Display Area to "off", Display Area to "normal". I hope this works for you

if the standby light blinks 6 times it has a bad backlite board (the most common with that set) other than that i will need to know how many times in a row it blinks. thanks....techman
Most likely this is caused by a defective main board. Changing the main board will fix the issue about 95% of the time.
To be absolutely sure, the voltages need to be checked on the power supply. If they are not the values listed in the service manual, then you should replace the power supply instead (accounts for the other 5% of the time).
