The lens will not retract, we have tried new fully charged batteries. The lcd display comes on but no buttons will work and it switches off after a few seconds and beeps

I have the same problem and I was told it was probably dropped. I was told it would be fifty dollars to send it in. Is the camera worth that now?

You must have dropped your camera where it caused damage in internal part. when cameras are dropped wires and screws inside loosen which will cause trouble. Have it checked by a pro. you might destroy it more if you try to fix it yourself. Thanks.

The manual says you can use alkaline batteries,
a SNB-2512B KIT, or 2xAA Ni-MH Batteries.
If you did use NiCD batteries, it could be they would not work, because they have another output voltage (lower).
Try a set of alkaline batteries or fresh Ni-MH batteries, before you ask Samsung. If new batteries give the same result. contact your dealer or Samsung.

Hi I slipped in the garage and dropped the camera when it was on==batteries came out and lens of course didn't fully retract. Put batteries back in and the green light comes on and beeps but won't...

Sorry about your moms camera Terry... but it sounds like it needs the lens replaced. If the lens is stuck out at an angle you can *SNAP* the inner lens section back into place if you're lucky, and it will work again like normal.

I don't know your model, but a refurb lens can usually be installed for about $75 including return shipping. You should check the replacement cost of a used camera and see which is cheaper in the long run.

Hope this helps!

Camera will not turn ON. I changed the batteries but still no change.

Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.

Lens wont go in power button wont lite or come on and screen display nothing what is happen to my fe 210 olympus camera

I have the same camera! But my display is broken. :( But it still works. Try plugging in the external video cable to see if you can see the display on your TV.
Make sure the battery is fully charged. If the battery is no longer holding a charge, replace it or use the appropriate AC adapter to power the camera.
Also, remove the memory card if you are using one in you camera.
After you put a freshly charged battery in or plug in the AC adapter, press and hold the power button for at least 3 full seconds. The lens should extend fully. If it doesn't, press the playback [>] button on the back (this should make the lens retract). Then press the power button to shut the camera off. Press the power button again to power it back up and the lens should extend out as normal. You should be OK.
If not, let me know and I'll see what else I can dig up.
The last thing you can try is updating the Firmware. Below is a link to the Firmware update for this camera. Since I don't know what OS you're using, just pick your Operating System and follow the instructions on the pages that follow the link you chose.

My sony cyber shot dsc-s700 does not want to turn on and the batteries are new, what can i do?

I'm sorry that the camera is not turning ON. Please make sure that the battery is fully charged and there are no dust particles near the lens which stops retracting. Check if you are able to access the Menu. If yes, then, please Initialize the camera under settings 1 Menu. If you are not able to access the menu, you may have to power reset the camera by removing the battery and press n hold the power button for 1 minute continuously. After that leave the button and insert the battery and check if it helps. If the issue still persists, your camera will require service.

New camera with fully charged battery won't turn on

It may be something more serious, or your new batteries may be too low for the camera to work properly, but the problem you describe is frequently due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera. Remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a clean cloth (heavy corrosion buildups may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment, clean the contacts at both ends of the batteries, and reinstall them in the camera. Assuming that the batteries are fresh/fully charged, this takes care of about 90% of the startup problems. I hope it works for you.

I turn camera on. Lens comes out. beep 3 times. turns off.

Everytime I try to turn it on, the lens comes out for about a second, the camera beeps 3 times, the lens retracts and the camera shuts off. The battery is completely charged and the camera is only 4 months old. HELPP :(
