My original hunter ceiling fan model 22272 seems to be turning clockwise as in the winter mode. We have had these three fans in my great grandmothers home for 31 years and they all are hanging and working. Now that I just inherited the home I noticed the living room is not blowing air downward. There is not a directional switch so I'm stumped. Thank you.

Usually direction is changed by pulling one of the chains, or there will be a small black switch where/near chains enter in to housing area.

SOURCE: Problem with GE Zoneline 5200 model

Heat pumps have saftey circuits that prevent liquid flooding of the compressor. Inadequate airflow across the evaporator in cooling can trip this circuit. Have your package unit serviced with particular attention to cleaning the evaporator coil and be sure your filters are clean and changed frequently in the summer months. Hope this helps GL!

SOURCE: Ruud heating/ac unit blowing only cold air in heating mode

Do you have gas or electric heat. If you have gas then you do not have a heat pump. You should in most cases have a red, yellow, white, and green wires coming to the thermostat. R should go to rc/rh G should go to green Y should go to Y and w should go to W. Also the switches on back should be switched to non heat pump and gas rather than electric. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: ac fan not turning on I can ''stick start it'' but which direction?

The condensor fan should be sucking air from the top and blowing it through the coils, probably a counter clockwise direction. The buzzing/humming sound is confusing to me. A humming sound sounds like a motor that can not turn over to start. A starting capacity would be needed. Just because you changed it out last year does not mean it is good. A buzzing sound sounds like a contactor problem. Contactors buzz and after a while, they will fail. In any case, you can "stick start" the condensor fan PROVIDED you are sure the ac compressor is working (this is for a short and temporary use). Also, you may have a high load duty capacitor that assists in the unit running. This will affect your condensor fan operation if it is not good. Unless you know all the components and operations of ac electrical, I would highly recommend calling out a professional.

SOURCE: fan freezes up with ice in winter

They need air, do not cover it when in use.

If ti cools fine in summer then you just have a defrost problem.

Make sure the outdoor coil is clean.
If the coils are clean, then you have a bad defrost control.

In heat mode the unit should go into a timed or temp controlled defrost. If it is frosting up to the point of stopping the fan, in heat mode only, and otherwise operates properly, then its a bad defrost control.

It is reccomended that the defrost temp sensor be replaced at the same time the defrost control board is replaced. Some temp sensors are part of the board and not a seperate component, but not most.

How do I reverse direction of hunter fan using universal remote 99121?

you don't
Reverse direction for a ceiling fan is a clockwise motion producing an updraft. In the winter, when your heater is running, reversing your ceiling fan moves warm air near the ceiling down to the floor. This greatly reduces your energy use and can lower your energy bills by as much as 15 percent. You will need a ladder or a step stool to reach the motor housing. Turn off your ceiling fan and locate the direction switch on the motor housing. This one is here, sometimes they are on the top of the motor housing. Make sure your fan has come to a complete stop before flipping the direction switch in the opposite direction

How To oil hunter fan catalog 22272-004. Can't find my 1980 owners manual which used to give instructions.

Checking Oil

Check oil level immediately after fill- ing the reservoir. To check oil, bend an ordinary pipe cleaner into a 1/2" long hook and dip it into the oil reser- voir. If oil touches the end of the pipe cleaner, the fan has ample oil. If it does not touch, add SAE 10 non-detergent oil slowly until it touches the pipe cleaner.

Your Original Hunter's unique lubricating system

The bearings are submerged in a bath of oil. The oil moves up a spiral groove in the shaft, lubricating all bearing surfaces as the fan operates. This Lubrication System does not normally "use up" or require the addition of extra oil once the oil reservoir has been filled to the correct level. This unique lubrication system is one reason your Original Hunter Ceiling Fan will last a lifetime. It is highly unlikely that you will ever need to add oil to your Original fan once it is installed. Should you move your fan to another location, it is a good idea to check the oil reservoir. Hunter has developed an accessory 'Original Relocation Kit' that includes all mounting hardware and a fresh tube of oil for this reason. The model number is 22360.
CAUTION: DO NOT TURN FAN ON UNTIL LUBRICATION HAS BEEN ADDED. TO OPERATE THE FAN WITHOUT OIL OR WITH LOW OIL WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY

Adding oil

Your fan has been shipped without
oil in the motor. A 1-ounce tube of
high grade SAE 10 non-detergent oil
is packaged in the sack parts. All the
oil in the tube must be put into the
fan. Cut the tip off the tube and place the tube into the oil hole. To avoid overflowing during filling, allow oil to gravity flow about one minute to fill the oil reservoir. (It may be necessary to puncture the tube to allow air in.)

We got 4 HUNTER ceilin fans in one room. Model 27185-060 with remote FCC ID:IN2TX11 Two of them are runing clocwise another two in opsite side Wat can we do to run all in one direction?

Your Hunter ceiling fan is equipped with a small switch that changes the spin of the blades from clockwise to counter-clockwise. Regardless of the make or model of your ceiling fan, this switch is typically located on the center motor housing where the fan blades are attached. good-day!

Sounds like the remote receiver units (located where the mains connect to the fans) took a surge and have failed.
