Can you change the 4 prong electrical cord to a 3 prong - as my house I moved to only has a 3 prong outlet. and the dryer currently has a 4 prong cord.
Yes this can be done but this is removing the ground wire in the plug which if you have a thunderstorm and a purge comes threw it may blow the board now this is a maybe so it will have to be hooked up L1Black L2 red And white. on the back of the dryer instead of L1 L2 Common and ground. They have operated this way for 20 years. Please rate my solution and leave testimonial it is how i earn my achievements thanks in advance.

Always disconnect electricity before beginning this process.
All the 4 wire cords I have seen are color-coded. The white wire goes to the middle terminal, the green wire goes to any screw you can reach that goes into the metal case of the dyer. The red and black go to the outside terminals of the block and while it doesn't matter which color goes to which terminal I usually follow the color code of the interior dryer wiring that already exists. Good Luck.

NO. YOU HAVE AN ELECTRIC DRIER--THAT REQUIRES A 220 VOLT OUTLET. THE REGULAR OUTLET LIKE A LAMP WOULD PLUG INTO IS A 110 VOLT. IF ALL YOU HAVE IS A 110V OUTLET BACK THERE THEN YOU NEED A GAS DRYER OR HAVE AN ELECTRICTIAN RUN 220V FOR YOUR DRYER.

You need to go to a local hardware store and buy a new cord. There is an adapter but it is more exspensive than the cord and I have seen problems with them overheating because of the fine dust getting in them. Your cord is easy to replace there is a access panel that is held on by a screw where the cord goes into the machine. You will need to remove the screws holding the electric wires there will be 3 on your dryer. The 4 wire cord has an extra ground. You can put this under the screw that holds the access panel on. The two outside wire connectors on your dryer are the hot wires each carries 110v the center wire is the neutral wire and also acts as a ground on a 3 wire dryer. The 4th wire is an ground for house trailers and some areas require them as a seperate ground from the neutral. I hope this helps

Hello,
It seems to get confusing where the wires go in the back where the cord connects to on your brand new,or previously dryer that you have brought to a home thats new to you
4 wires goes as such with the red wire going on the right side, the black wire going on the left, the white wire goes on the center terminal. Now what exactly do you do with the green wires is what your asking yourself. It goes onto the cabinet after removing that little link that went from the center terminal that was beweeen the cabinet and and the white wire terminal.Yes remove that link and install the green wire where that link was just attached to a minute ago.
