The agitator is in 2 pieces, the top piece is bolted to the bottom piece after mating top and bottom spline sections together. This bolt keeps coming loose and the top agitator section comes off at some point during wash cycle. Nothing seems broken yet on either top or bottom agitator piece, however it keeps happening! I have been reattaching "wrench tight" but wonder if there is a torque spec on this bolt i should follow? Also there was a rubber and steel flat washer in bolt assemly. I assume the order should be: agitator top piece, rubber washer, steel washer, then bolt. Is this correct? I had to replace the original rubber washer with a piece of inner tube rubber after i tightened down in a different order- agitator top, steel washer, rubber washer, bolt (the rubber washer got chewed up beyond usefulness). Would some locktite on the bolt threads be advisable?
the drum bearing are damaged due to water leak from seal inside the drum. that's why water on the floor. silicone paste mo use as it has other major problem.

Depending on the brand of washing machine, the agitator may be a single piece unit or a two piece dual action agitator. If the single piece agitator or the lower portion of a dual agitator does not oscillate back and forth during the wash cycle, or if the agitator can be turned on the transmission shaft, then the spline may be damaged and the agitator may need to be replaced. Most agitators are held in place with a bolt that threads into the top of the transmission shaft and is located below the softener dispenser or top cover. Some models use a small set screw in the barrel of the agitator just above the base to secure the agitator to the shaft, while some will use a rubber o-ring to provide a tight fit. When the retaining device is removed you should be able to lift the agitator from the shaft.
Number 310 probably is stripped out. Mounted under the agitator this is called a drive block/bell.I believe the part comes with a new bolt also. This plastic piece has splines inside that slip onto the tranny. Over time the splines wear smooth and the washer will not agitate. To get to it you yank off the agitator:
If the main shaft were broken, the entire agitator assembly would come out. Usually, there is a plastic adapter that goes from the shaft to the interior of the agitator and is splined to mate with the shaft. A bolt commonly holds the two together, but usually has an uncommon drive head. There may be a removable plastic cap that either unscrews or just pulls off. Hope this helps!
Hi, You will need to change the dog kit inside the agitator. Remove the cap on top of the agitator and you will find a 7/16" bolt. Remove the bolt and seperate the agitator. The dog kit is located betwee the 2 pieces.
Please let me know if this helps you or if I can assist you further.
that's funny [feed dogs]they are called, dog ears but you do now have to feed the dogs because their not working.lol.hey you will have to get those parts on-line or at an appliance store.lowes wont carry those that i know.anyway if you pop the cap of the agitator you will see a piece that has a small handle.pull up and remove that piece.then you will see the bolt to remove to pull the agaitator[its a 7/16]take a good look at how its together before you take apart.......ok now that the agitator is out place on floor, put feet on the bottom piece and pull up on the top piece til comes off.then dump out the piece in the top w/dog ears in it........install new ears in that piece and reinstall upside down, inthe top piece of the agitator.then apply pressure on the dog ear retainer and place over the bottom piece of the agitatealigning the two little tabs sticking up on the bottom piece of the agitator with the little cut outs in the dog ear retainer....now take your socket to place bolt back on,put some plastic wrapper or package from dogs in the socket and push the bolt into it.then place the bolt in the hole of the dog ear retainer .now lift agitator up and place onto transmission shaft and tighten bolt and place cover back on................boy that was a lot of words.that should do it for you God bless you Tiffany ,from tom
Remove the bolt and get the agitator out the washer. Set the agitator on the floor, put your feet on the base and yank the top part off. Get a piece of pipe and place the cam with the new dogs on the pipe. Flip the top piece of the agitator over and shove the cam up into the top, then flip it right side up and position it so you can snap it back together . Make sure you don't flatten out the 2 tabs on the base. NOT GOOD. Once you snapped it back together carefully slide it back into postion on the washer spline and take cake not to make it come back apart. Put the blt back and don't overtighten. Comprende? LOL
after removing the agitator from the machine (7/16 bolt) i place the agitator on the floor, step on either side of it and pull up on the top half, ittl come loose, needs a little help! a word of advice though is after replacing the agitator dogs, turn the entire agitator upside down and insert the bolt through the entire agitator assy and keep constatn pressure on the bolt as you turn it boack over and try to realign with thte tranny shat. ( you see the parts wanna seperate as you try to reinstall them otherwise)
there should be a rubber washer with the bolt. if it is missing the bolt may back of during agitation. also the threads on the transimision may be stripped. Some Green lock tight found in most hard ware stores should help. the knocking noise is probably due the agitator coming loose.
