When printing a CD the printer pushes the tray out, the printer never even begins to pull the tray in. I've tried just about everything that everyone has said with absolutely no success. Just a frustrating problem! Used to work but then it started doing this....

I had the same problem. Restarted the printer. Reinstalled the drivers. Scratched my head ... nothing! then I moved the printer away from the wall - problem solved! I can't say that this will work for you but if everything else is working, as it was and still is on mine then it's worth a try.
What I didn't realsie was that the cd tray comes out of the back of the printer when it's checking the alignment. I had inadvertantly pushed the printer back, too close to the wall. Moved it forward slightly and it's fixed.
Hope that solves it for everyone.

I have had this problem when using the guide arrow on tray to line it up.When I push the tray in farther about a half inch it seems to work fine.

Ok, I have finally found the solution that works for me *every time.* When you send the file to the printer, the ink / print head carriage will travel from its rest position on the right, all the way to the left, then back to the right.

As soon as that carriage has returned to the right, (that's when the printer motor begins feeding the CD tray) you gently put your finger on the end of the CD tray, and give it a gentle push for 5-6 seconds to help the printer feed motor. This works every time; and when I fail to do this, I get the error message every time. I've tested this successfully, printing almost 100 CDs.

I was having similar problems. I cleaned the white strip on the tray, removed the back and leaned down on the top of the printer itself. That seemed to do the job. It is making strange sounds though.....SIGH.

I found to position the dvd printer tray slightly higher helps. I put a small box underneath the add on feeder thingy and that seems to increase my probability of it working. Other than that my next printer will not be an epson. This is now my second epson printer that has feed problems with dvd printing. Try five times for one time that works.

Epson Stylus Photo R300 Inkjet Printer When I try to print on a cd/dvd I line up the arrows hit print but it keeps telling me to close the cd/dvd tray, there is no way it will print with this tray.

The cd/dvd tray door has a small opening on right edge. Inside there is a slide switch. Use a toothpick to see if it is stuck. Check where it closes to the main body. A thin strip protrudes out to mate and close the plastic actuator of the switch. The door may not be closing well enough the actuate the switch. Make sure it is fully closed and retry to print. Also, there will be a small click as you raist the door before it snaps into place. If not, check to see if there may be some debris causing it to not actuate properly.
Good luck,

Yes I had a similar problem and in fact returned my printer for a replacement. You need clearance as the CD tray emerges some 2.5 to 3 inches behind the printer. If the tray hits an obstacle it is unable to correctly line up for printing and the trat is rejected
