My washer just makes a humming/buzzing noise when it hits the spin cycle. I emptied out the washer and turned it on to see why and find out why my clothes are still coming out half clean. Found my agitator wasn't working on top correctly. If I apply pressure to it, I can feel it slipping but it will temporarily work. There is literally nothing going on when it comes to the spin cycle other than the humming/buzzing noise. Is there anything I can do to fix these two problems? I have tons of laundry backed up :(

Replace the direct drive coupling between the motor and transmission.

You may have worn agitator dogs, causing the upper portion of the agitator (called the "auger") to slip. Or, you could have a loose agitator bolt. The following link explains how to replace the dogs (if necessary) and how to access the bolt:

If you need to replace the dogs, the part number is included. You can purchase them for about $5 at appliancepartspros.com. For a little more, you can purchase the entire agitator drive replacement kit. Look for it under the "Agitator" parts section. You can also reference the helpful exploded view diagrams the site offers for assistance.
NOTE: When tightening the agitator bolt make sure you do not overtighten. This may cause damage to the agitator, or restrict its movement. Tighten until snug.
This repair should take about 10-15 minutes and does not require special tools, a repairman, or a lot of money. If you still require assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
