Washer make a clicking noise

My washing machine makes a clicking noise during the wash cycle. Everything works normal except for when the agitater turns counter clockwise during the wash cycle. No problems during the wash cycle when the agitater turns clockwise. Also no problems during the final spin cycle which turns counter clockwise. I only bought my washer 4 years ago. Thank you.

I pulled off the agitator and found some pennies lodged in there but the noise still continued. Even with the agitator off the clicking noise would continue in the counter clockwise motion but not in the clockwise motion. Maybe something is wrong with a gear in the transmission for the counterclock wish motion.

THE WASH CYCLE SEEMS TO START BUT THE DRUM DOESN'T START TURNING. IT STOPS MAKING NOISE AND THE COUNTER JUST COUNTS DOWN TO 0. IT HASN'T WORKED SINCE THE FUSE BOARD WAS TRIPPED, I ASSUME BY THE WASHING WACHING FAULT.

Zoobs, you could have something stuck under the agitator. The agitator will pull straight off. Grip it on each side and pull up hard, but don't hit yourself in the face. If that don't work, try slipping a belt under it and pull. Check for something caught under it. Another possibility could be the nylon suspension rod socket supports in the back. They will make a noise during agitation if they are dry. Put a little 3 in 1 oil to quite them down. Take the front panel off and check the pulley and belt, see if anything is out of whack. I also often find the motor support hitting the bottom panel during agitation making noise. Take the front panel off and observe during agitation. See if the support is striking the bottom. If so, just bend the bottom panel down. Catriver..post back.

Washer makes a loud, pulsing, screeching noise with no spinning

Sounds like a transmission problem. Not worth the repair judging from age.

Making an awful ratcheting noise during aggitation and spin cycles

Under the agitator there is a rachet mechanism that works the agitator. If it is stripped, it will skip until the next good tooth.. when it fails entirely the agitater will stop going back and forth. Its nylon and age along with overloading hastens its dearg.. If you can get the parts you can replace it yourself without difficulty. There is a single bolt in the center of the agitator top . Remove and loft agiyator straight up.

Loud squeal during wash and spin cycles, maytag atlantis washer

Squealing normal occurs due to belt slippage. I would check your belts (look for cracks. Check the belt tension as well, most washers have an adjustment, normally on the motor that allows you to increase the tension of the belt.

If part of a belt gets torn and it is long enough, it will hit any part of the washing machine within range and make a clicking noise at every revolution of the motor.

I am pretty sure you need new belts. You should be able to remove a few screws and open the back cover. Between the pulleys there is a tensioner...loosen that so you can remove the belt easily. replace it with a new belt and adjust the tension.

hope this helps
