How to fix Panasonic SA-HT820V stuck on VCR?

This home theater system consists of two boxes: 1) the receiver with controls, AM/FM, DVD/CD-changer, and VCR; and 2) the woofer box containing the 5.1 amplifiers and woofer-speaker. A multi wire cable connects the two boxes. Audio section in receiver accepts audio signal to input jacks from a separate source and delivers audio output to 5.1 power amplifiers in woofer box. (Signals from woofer box to speakers OK.)

The receiver itself produces no signal from AM/FM or CD player since it is stuck on VCR. Question: How to fix control electronics so that pushing select-button switches to, for example, sound from the CD?

Panasonic SA-HT820V need universal remote that can control radio

My remote works for the most basic functions I need it for. But there are things that don't work, like the Menu button. After looking online just now, there is a website to order new parts and accessories for this system. Here is the website, http://www.pstc.panasonic.com/EpartR/PartsListChoice.asp?validate=1.
If you order a new remote, maybe that will work. Not sure if it's worth it for you but that's what I'm going to try. And here is the remote you need, EUR7722X20. Good luck!
