Colors are out of alignment

On my Hitachi there's a convergence button on the front panel. Press that button which will give you red & blue lines. You have to use your remote to converge (align) those lines to correct the picture. If the lines won't converge I've been told it could be a bad convergence IC & tech is needed to fix...could be approx $300 to fix.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. I'm no expert, but I think that you have a problem with the convergence of the 3 color guns. I've been working on a similar problem. As a first step, have you tried "Magic Focus?" The Magic Focus button for the Hitachi 53UDX10B is at the left of the small front panel controls that also include your RCA composite and SVideo connectors. Let the set warm up for about 20 minutes (as recommended by the user guide), and then press the Magic Focus button. When you press the Magic focus button, the set will auto align the 3 color guns. If this doesn't fix your problem, unplug the TV for at least 4 hours and try again.

Needs convergence amps replaced. Sometimes resistors burn and need to be replaced. This repair requires soldering/desoldering equip. and a trained eye, but usually can be done for 175.00-325.00 at a reputable service center. Good luck, Russmann.

You could have some type of convergance (three colors, three guns) problem. Also a misaligned horizontal or vertical oscillator.Ceck to see if any of tiny magnets around the bell of picture tube or next to coils in and around bell of pix tube are missing.
