Lightening hit really close to my house and my JVC DVR doesn't work anymore. I didn't buy the extended warranty from Fry's when I bought the DVR and they won't fix it since I didn't buy their service policy. I need to find someplace to have my DVR fixed. I live in Austin, TX.

Ask and see but I would not mention the lightening---if its 3 months old the LG warranty should cover the repair or replacement.

They will not know at all it was lightening unless you tell them.

"This thing just stopped working" they will either get it fixed or get you a replacement set.

Hindsight is wonderful---always suggest a extended warranty since it either gets fixed or exchanged.

Most sets come with a one year parts and labor warranty but not all.

If the set is dead let me know brand and model number (on label on back) and I will try to assist you.

You can replace DVD unit with one est?ndar for pc.

The only thing you must do is remove the front of the tray.

Time to buy a new one I think. Untold damage may have been done to the panels.

I have the same model. Only 2 years old and either the control panel or module is out. $150 or $130 depending on part and I install. Then you have the risk of it going out again. It was a $600 + dishwasher. I'm pissed.
I am trying to sell it on Craigs to someone for parts as I hate to scrap it. Probably the moisture problem and the power surges did it in.
I bought a new maytag with the extended warranty and will probably extend it more. The problem is that all the electronics are sensitive, fragile, and expensive. No sense buying a new appliance without the warranty because no new appliance is reliable anymore. I threw away $600+ before and had I paid an extra $100, it would be fixed and still warrantied.

The reason it goes into overload is due to the fact that the power amp section parts have developed a short and thus causing an overload in the power supply. The affected parts need replacing and I rather suspect that the subwoofer amp section has also developed a fault. I rather think with the lighting damage that you might have to replace the lot! And not just the subwoofer!! If your house was insured replacements might be covered by that. If not you sound like your in for a big bill!
