Won't power up past the W logo.

My TX-42F430S has power and it displays the W logo after you connect the power but then the light on the front stays amber and it won't power on past that. Any ideas?

It was stuck in Standby mode. I found a lot of great infomation over at for this set. It is a known problem. I was just able to fix it by upgrading (or downgrading the firmware). It comes up now but it apears the hdmi inputs are not working.

After reseting the set and powering on the hdmi device after the tv came back up the HDMI ports work again!

    All is good now.

The unit can be reset by pressing and holding the power button on the TV for 10 sec
perhaps that can reset the system

Try hitting the input button and selecting the correct source. Mine is YBPBR1. That should get you a picture!

Westinghouse tv turns on power light blue works for 3 minutes then turns orange

This is going to be associated with your inverter or your display board. Some cases they are the same board. You will have to take this apart, find the board and then find a replacement.

Won't nothing but the westinghouse logo come up when i cut it on

Chances are it is the main board that needs worked on. You should find one of these part numbers on the board, this set has different versions on the main board due to different panels that were put in during production.

Westinghouse 42" TV, model TX-42F430S, will not turn on. Orange light in front appears rather than the blue one.

There is a defective electrolytic capacitor (470MF/16V) on the main board that went bad, it will causes intermittent, slow, or not power up, the location number of the cap is not marked on the board, please see the attached photo to locate it.

Westinghouse model tx-42f430s won't power on

That problem is usually have 2 causes..Its either power supply board or main board..

Please take this steps on how to determine the problem:
1. Open the back cover.
2. Check the power supply output...It should have 5vdc for the main board..12vdc or 16vdc for the audio and 24vdc for the back-light inverter..
3. If those 3 voltage supplies have encountered voltage drop...The problem could be on power supply board..
4. If the power supply output is normal..The problem could be on the main board...
5. If the problem is power supply you should check if the capacitors are bulged on the top and try to replaced it..If you can't do that you can purchased new power supply board..
6. If the problem is on main board there is no D.I.Y repair on that so you need to buy a new main board that fits to your TV..
Hope this solution will be helpful..

Thanks for using fixya...

We have a 42 inch Westinghouse LCD panel that will not power up.

The fact that you do not have any indicator lights whatsoever means that your power supply is defective.

Open up the back and check for bubbled capicators. This is a common issue in Westinghouse LCDs where the power supply would fail easily, most likely caused by a power surge. If you see any bubbled capacitors, you could try just changing them with the right voltage and fared ratings but sometime they can be hard to find since many have high voltage ratings. make sure they are in the right orientation.

If this does not fix it or if you just want to go the easy route, just order the power supply. That is guaranteed to solve the problems and is much easier to replace.

More likely it's because of power circuit of your TV set. If you are not trained enough in repairing TV sets, appeal to your local repair center

TX-42F430S Lock up on power up

I have a similar problem with my TX-42F430S; Mine freezes when changing from Comp 1 to Comp 2. unpluging and waiting was the only fix. Just recently my TV just started turning off(after about 30min of watching) and the led will flash blue. I need to unplug for about 10min before it works again. Getting frustrated and I have contacted Westinghouse to send for repair. only had the TV for 3 months; connect to Roger Explorer HD box.
