The smell of gas

I am having a problem with my gas cooktop. Ever since we installed it yesterday, it smells like gas. We checked for leaks with the soapy water, but it won't go away. Is this normal for a while? What should I do?

Call for service immediatly. dont ever mess with a possible gas leak. it is more than likely a slow leak at the shutoff or the safty valve. your local repair company should have a combustible gas detector. to pin point the leak.

Shut your gas off at the tank or meter valve. Open windows and doors and vacate. Call an appliance or gas technician!

You smell gas after it is turned off. you do not smell gas if valve is off. The burners work but when turned off you can smell a hint of gas.

Hi, you have a leak some where an old trick of finding gas leaks was to use washing up liquid diluted if its possible in this case and when the washing liquid finds the leak it produces a soapy bubbles where the leak is .

New Maytag MGC7430 gas cooktop leaks gas when lit

First it could be leaking from the control knob when it is on . There could be a leak at the base off the burner letting out gas or on the burner line . You need to get back on to your installer or where you purchased the cook top . This basic gas fitting leak detection .

I have the drop in Jade 5 burner cooktop. for the first time, I noticed a significant gas smell when I light any of the burners. we cant figure out the problem since the cootkop is functioning fine, but...

All gas burners will put off a gas Oder when lit, if you go away for a while and come back home and smell gas, you should turn off the gas and call the gas company
