I want to remove the inner tube to see if something is between it and the outer tub that is stopping it from spinning. Goes through the entire cycle correctly except it won't spin.

Remove maytag inner tub

Remove top cover, take out the bolt remove the small cover to expose the plate with several screws, remove the screws and lift the inner tub up. Usually this requires two people to get the tub up and out as it is very hard to pull up as it kind of sticks to the shaft

I have a maytag top load washer (Bravos quiet series 300) that has stoped working. it flashes a code of "F51". It did this before and the repair man opened it up and found small clothing items...

Press 2 metal tabs. About 6" from the sides on the front of washer. Plastic ring on top has tabs that need to be disengaged to disconnect the ring. Once ring has been removed the area between the plastic tub & metal tub is accessible. Check for small articles of clothing, like socks or underwear. Inner tub can be removed by: snap up plastic cap (small slot for tool to slip in and pop up). Remove 7/16 nut and remove agitator (may require to be rocked back & forth, sits on a splined shaft). Remove 5 small phillips screws, being careful not to drop any, and pull inner metal tub up (may require it being shimmied back and forth). Removing this tub will give full access to any debris or articles of clothing that may be under it. Please keep in mind that if you're challenged in reassembly

Washer has a very musty smell. Trying to raise the top to clean inner tank but it will not budge. Does the top raise on the WJSR2070B model. Do not want to break it

Yes, but I would advise to try a washer cleaner before going through all the work to dissassemble your machine.
Use the longest, hottest cycle. You may have to run the cycle with a cleaner twice to remove all the built up soap scum inside the washer.

You could check out http://www.smellywasher.com/ for one possiblity. Others are " Washer Magic " or these: 73b1c2a.jpg fb3071a.jpg
If you still want to tackel the dissassembly: The washer front comes off by using a putty knife to push in the two retaining clips on the very top edge, where it meets the washer top. Now you will be able to access the screws which hold the top down. Of course to remove the inner tub, you still have to remove the lid switch, the agitator, agitator drive, the left hand threaded nut below that, the wire connection to the motor, the four tub retaining straps, the tub to pump hose, the four suspension rods, the tub cover and the water level hose. Then you would be able to remove the inner tub and pressure wash out the outside of the inner tub and the inside of the outer tub, if you bring the tub assemble outside. TRY THE CLEANER FIRST !!!!

Maytag top load clothes washer tub spins hard

Hi, You can unsnap the plastic splash ring and see if something is between the tubs. The inner tub turns rather hard anyways. The agitator might have a 1/4" screws in the side of it to hold it onto the shaft of the transmission. If not, just pull the agitator up real hard.
Under the agitator is a spanner nut that holds the inner tub in place. I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Maytag mav6200aww removing inner tub

I broke a hammer removing the basket on a 6000 series today. These are known to be a real ***** to remove. Once those screws are out there is a seal nut to remove and the basket hub assembly is what it sits on. Look at 5 and 7 below.

Maytag Washer: How to Remove Tub

Under the agitator is a flat nut with notches in it. this nut requires a spanner wrench that will fit into the notches. You can use a large channel lock plier. rotate the nut counter-clockwise. under the nut will be a seal. remove the nut and the seal and pull up on the inner tub. to replace you'll need to replace the seal. if the nut isn't too chopped up, use this to refasten the tub.

Removing Tub from Maytag Atlantis Washer

I do believe that when you remove the four bolts, it should come out. Sometimes you have to use a little force and shimmy left to right to get it to break loose (no hammers please) especially if you have a lot of scum build-up from soap. They can really be a bear sometimes to remove. Maybe put your foot in the bottom of the tub and hit it on both sides to work it free. Good Luck!!! Jim

Maytag Atlantis MAV6257AWW

I have a Maytag Atlantis MAV6257AWW. I need to replace the transmission. So I removed all four screws from the inner tub but I couldnt get the inner tub pull out, it's stuck.

From what I read on here, the seal nut doesn't have to be remove in order to remove the inner tub.

I tried every, I even hammer the shaft down from the inside of the tub but still no luck. Can someone help, thanks.
