My Toshiba Regza 42" picture disappeared while viewing, leaving only the sound. I'm receiving through a Comcast box using HDMI. I swapped FOS boxes to no success. I switched to RCA cable input and now get a picture (of course not HD). I tried all three HDMI inputs. Can the HDMI box be repaired on the TV? Its only a few years old.
Not sure if this link will help you out but have a look. Toshiba Regza 42 Black Screen Google Search

There is an easy way to adapt the cable.
Any good computer shop will have the adaptor.
Take the HDMI cable to them, and tell them you want an adaptor to go to composite signal.
(I know that they're made, many of the graphics cards I use to build computers come with that cable adaptor)
You also might try Best Buy or Radio Shack, but you might not have much luck with them.

Hi ,disconnect the cable and leave the three RCA cables in.Switch off TV and DVD player ,then switch on tv and dvd player next .If you see the dvd picture and have sound then i think the cable box is overriding the rca channel.I normaly use a scart connection for the dvd to cable box then another scart from cable to tv.Hope this helps..

It's in the repair shop. I'll write back what the problem was and how much it cost to ship.

In most cases the HDMI issues are the source itself. Try another item like a DVD player or BluRay player. If they work then its a compatibility issue. If they don't then the HDMI receiver board in the TV is bad. Please take a moment to rate my answer. Thanks...
SOURCE: Tv with out coax inputs.
you can run it through a cable box or vcr that has a coax input and rca output.
