More than likely it's not the start capacitor why your fan will not run this more than likely it's not the start capacitor why your fan will not run this lubrication try turning the fan motor by hand if it does not turn freely it's lubrication I have answered this another post.
more than likely it is lubrication spray WD-40 into the oil holes after you have unplugged the fan of course Keep turning the fan and you'll notice will start turning more freely apply more oil to the rear of the motor as this is an oil bushing you're putting more oil into

mcdevito75 here, If the fan is not too old I would figure yes, but a replacement motor will cost as a new fan, if not more, then you have to install and the blades are a presss fit to the motor.
