I have a AMANA AFU2067AW 19.6 cu. ft. standup freezer and when the freezer gets cold, I have water accumulate in the bootom of freezer and freeze and I also hear like a electrical arcing noise coming from evap. area. The heater coil at the bottom of the Evap. is brown on one end. Do you think the sound I am hearing is the hater coil being shorted out or what do you think it is. Also the fan would not turn on and blow air until I left it off all night and now it is running but I suppose that it is now not cold enough yet to go into the defrost cycle. Have there been any other freezers wit same problem?

Top shel and top door shelfs are not freezing food solid ... Bottom freezes , all food on top portion thaws

you may have ab ad fan inside the cooler and all of the cold air is staying at the bottom. Also there may be bad insulation at the top and there may be warm air up there.

Oil in the evaporator. It may come back if you leave it running for a few days, but usually needs flushing out.

If you hear the fan then it might be sticking on defrost mode.

Freezer not uniformly cold

Check the fan vent to see it's not blocked or frozen. Sometimes a defrost will clear ice temporarily, but it will happen again if you have a bad fan.

How do you defrost a older modle 13 cu ft standup freezer ?

Hi,
Empty it out....pull the plug... get out the hair dryer....when all of the ice is thawed and the water soaked up then you plug it back in and restock the food...

Self defrosting deep freeze not defrosting

The excess frost in those areas is probably caused by leaky door gasket seals. They should be tight enough to hold a dollar bill securely all the way around. A defrost problem would start on the coils behind the back cover inside the freezer and would also appear on the back wall before it did on the door edges.

Replace the heater if the end is damaged. The defrost is timed rather than temperature initiated.

Check the defrost timer, rotate it until a solid click is heard. If your unit starts to work replace that timer. Good Luck
