Its also important if is the batterie 14,4 or 18 V there is an other safety circuit on the batterie that must have a little lower basic dc on it that will referenced on the loader , i have do a short loading 4 amp for about 20 seconds 12 volt DC battery charcher from a car. and then direct disconnect from the connecting wires and place direct in the normal Dewalt li-ion loader then you see its functional only Dewald batteries where made functionally, panasonic ,hitachi bosch or others you can better send the batteries to a service where arre special cadex charchers to get back the deep discharge protection , makita has modificated machines from 2 to 3 connector contacts.also to have a prior deep discharge protection the machine will stops earlier .

Either bad batteries or a bad charger. You can use a multimeter to test for DC voltage output in the charger.

The lithium battery won't charge

If the lithium battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

Dewalt lithium battery won't charge

Your problem states you have a Makita tool and your question is about a Dewalt lithium battery. In either case if the battery won't take a charge or if the charger is showing the battery is defective the only fix is to replace the battery. Some causes for defective batteries or batteries that won't take a charge are bad cells in the battery, bad or shorted IC board in hte battery, broken or burnt connections between the many cells or between the cells and IC board or even bad or old cells that will no longer charge up. The time and effort needed to find out what the problem is then finding another battery to scavenge parts from (individual battery parts are not available) is never worth the cost of just buying another battery and going back to work with the tool(s).

18 volt dewalt lithium ion battery charger stopped working for no reason....

This can happen if the battery is too dead for too long. Keep trying to make it work like you have maybe 20-30 times. Or you can leave the battery in for a few days and let the logic chip do it's job. It should start working in a day or two.

Re: DeWalt 18V XRP Cordless Drill Driver. Should performance of the drill slow as battery becomes weaker? My drill works fine for quite some time then suddenly loses all power, even the light won't...

Yes. It's kind of like a flashlight when your batteries get low the light get dim, but if you replace the batteries light gets bright again. The drill will get weak as battery get low.
