Water Remaining in Gasket Around Door

I have a Kenmore front-loading washer. Water remains trapped in the gasket around the door. If I don't wash clothes for a while, it sours, giving the machine a musty smell. I don't know how to get it to drain so that there's no water there.

Kenmore front load washer door won't latch lock light on

On some Kenmore front load models, if the black gasket around the door opening is unseated (for example, because you drag some heavy wet laundry over it) the door will not engage the lock and stay closed. This is a feature to prevent the washer from leaking when the gasket is not sealed. To fix it, simply reseat the gasket and the door will close and lock.

Ways leak from the bottom when you start the wash

this may be something stuck in the gasket(rubber) that seals the door. Fold down the gasket all thew way around the gasket, remove any thing hat may be there. This could be coins, small articles of clothing, or a wash cloth.

If no obstruction is found, it probrbly require replacement of the door gasket/seal.

I have mold all around the rubber gasket on the fromt of my LG washer. How can I eliminate this?

Problem:
The seal design on the washer traps water causing mildew to grow.

Solution:

If the door gasket has a small hole at the six o'clock position--it is clogged with soap scum. Use compressed air to blow this hole clear.
This allows water to drain back into the tub
If there's no hole--this is an older model LG which did not have this upgrade
Wiping the door gasket with a rag after the LAST cycle of the day helps prevent debris from accumulating. Some consumers add (1) teaspoon of bleach to a spray bottle with water--and spray the older type gaskets after the final laundry load finished--to keep the gasket clean.

Water sitting and mold growing in the rubber gasket ring around the opening for the door

Front loaders are known for building up mold and the smell.
It’s caused by using liquid detergent which is made from animal fat. Use powder. And use the minimum amount.
It’s caused by using fabric softener. Dilute it 50/50 with water.
It’s caused by the water remaining in the tub between washes. Leave the door open to allow it to dry. .
Pull the rubber door seal back and clean the mold off .
affresh is recommended by some manufacturers. You run it through a wash cycle with it.

We've had our HE 2 plus washer for a couple years, and we have started to smell a slight mildew odor. Is there a trap someplace that needs to be cleaned, or something else I need to be looking for?

You need to use some bleach and clean the washer out. I also wipe the rubber around the door opening and leave the door open airing out the machine. The rubber gasket will grow black mold.

Front loader washer leaks from bottom center of door osmetimes

Check inside the door on the bellows gasket to make sure the inlet area (normally at the 10 o'clock position) is properly positioned around the water inlet, sometimes these work themselves off the inlet nozzle and can casue a leak when the washer is filling up.

Also, carefully run your hand around the bellows gasket to see if you can find any small holes that cold be letting water leak out. You'll need a flashlight to make this easier. It is hardly ever the hinges that causes a leak since the hinges are mounted outside of the door seal gasket (bellows gasket) and aren't ever exposed to the water.

Water leaks around door seal. Cleaned seal but still leaks

You may need to remove and replace the door gasket. Is there a dirt and soap on the seal itself? This may be a cause of preventing a proper seal from taking place. Here's what you can do. Wipe the door seal carefully making sure that the edge of the gasket is clean.
