You can transfer the photos directly from the camera to the PC using the USB cable that came with the camera. You don't need to transfer the pics to memory card first.
Connect the cable to the camera and the PC. Turn on the camera and your PC will recognise it as an external storage device. Use the PC's software to transfer the photos from camera to PC.
Once you have the pics on the PC you can use the Olympus Master software included with the camera to edit and archive the photos on the PC.

Hi ,
You could try this Card recovery software - free to download CLICK HERE
If the card is new and still under a manufacturers guarantee - I would try for a full refund on it. They do fail with increasing regularity, so in future I would opt for smaller capacity cards.
I have not found out yet if the failures are due to mechanical faults, handling damage, electrostatic discharges or simply instability of the chip. In theory they should last as long as other slid state chips - but problems are reported here daily. If you can give any details of possible reasons please do.Due to the unprotected contacts, I would opt for electrostatic discharge - from acrylic clothing.
You should be able to recover at least half of the recorded data, but I make no promises if any can actually be recovered.

If it is an SD memory card, check for a little white tab on the left side. Chances are that somehow it got pushed down to the 'write protect' mode. Move it back up and you should be good to go! Good luck.

Did your friend use the "safely remove hardware" function when removing your card from her computer? That could corrupt your card if she didn't. Try this...take your card to a store like Walmart that has a Kodak picture kiosk. They can usually read everything on a card. There, you can print the pics or even make a cd of them. Afterwards, format your card in your camera.
