My Acer Aspire 5532 laptop detects the TV (Sony Bravia L-series Kdl-32l5000 32-inch..) but the TV does not detect the laptop. I am using a VGA cord. I can't even select the PC input Mode on the TV as it is grayed out until it picks up the signal from my laptop. How can I fix this?

Try different cable, if you still get the problem after replacing cables, then you have a defective sygnal board (input board).

I had the same problem with mine. The solution I found was to use an optical audio cable rather than the red and white RCA audio jacks. Hope this helped.

Could be a sync calibration issue. Try to divert the TV sound to another input source on the Hometheatre system if possible, if it is a go then maybe the TV audio needs to be recalibrated. Make sure TV audio setup menu option has not changed also.

Most laptops have a combination of buttons you have to press on the keyboard to get it to output on the monitor output. Try pressing the FUNCTION KEY or FUNC/FN key usually found in the bottom left hand side of the keyboard. Keep that button held down while press one of the number keys. Usually the number key will have a picture of a TV screen on it. Might be number 8 or 9. Press both keys at the same time a you can switch between laptop screen, Sony LCD or you can have both..

Check DAV amp menu and select DTS surround or any other digital sound option.
