Go to the Sony Web support site. If your TV is one of the models listed with the blue dot problem (there are pictures of what the screen looks like with this problem)on the site, Sony is now saying that they will cover the cost of the part and the repair. We did what I'm suggesting and are having our part put in today. Sony decided this was their responsibility for some models of their LCD big screen HD TVs in June of this year. We were contemplating an estimated repair bill of over $1000 until we found out they were taking responsibility for this problem. Good luck, I'm not a truly techy person, but hope I have pointed you in the right direction. We have been living with blue people, etc. for about a year now, feeling angry about spending so much for a TV and it going bad so quickly. Hope this spares you that. You have only so much time to take advantage of this repair offer...

This problem was probably there before, but you only noticed with the new "Brighter" bulb.
This TV will require replacement of the LCD Prism unit.
This Prism blocks and allows colors so that the 3 LCD images may be mixed to produce the final image you see on the screen. When this becomes damaged or defective, it leaks colors (light). This Color Leakage apears as spots on the screens.
Where you see the spots is where the specific spot on the prism that is leaking light, the specific color that is leaking also.
This parts cost alone is normally $500 to $1000 dollars but is usually replaced under warranty. If out of warranty, I suggest living with it or selling it if out of warranty.
Turn down the Brightness and it will not be as noticeable. I am sure you only see this with bright images.....like white backgrounds and such
Good luck.....

WITH AN ORIGINAL SONY REMOTE HIT THE DISPLAY BUTTON TO REMOVE THE INPUT ON SCREEN DISPLAY---IF YOU leave it on long enough it will burn that image into one or more of the 3 picture Tubes.
ALMOST ANY SONY TV REMOTE WILL WORK FOR THIS FUNCTION.
