Removing blower fan from motor on Kenmore Elite 90 Series Dryer
I have removed the covers and have a new replacement motor. There is no clip on the blower. It seems to be pressed or threaded on. There is a 1/2" square hole in the blower face. I used a 1/2" socket drive and tried both CClockwise and Clockwise directions.and am afraid I'll break it. Any help would be appreciated.

Remove the front blower cover assembly. Remove the round retaining clip on center of blower wheel. Pull blower wheel off motor shaft. Remove belt from motor pully. Pull out dryer drum. Remove clips holding motor to base frame. Remove motor assy. Easy peezy. Reassemble in the opposite manner.
This advice is for dryer belt replacement on most Kenmore Elite and Whirlpool Duet model dryers. If in doubt, please provide me with a complete model number of your dryer and I will determine if these instructions apply.
In order to replace the drive belt on a Whirlpool Duet/Kenmore Elite dryers, you need to perform the following steps:
1. UNPLUG the dryer before servicing. Dangerous voltage is still present inside the dryer even when it is turned off.
2. Open the door and remove the lint screen. IMPORTANT: You will not be able to remove the air blower cover with the lint screen in place.
3. Remove the lower toe panel located directly below the door by loosening the screws under the bottom front edge. With the screws removed, the panel will drop down, then come off.
NOTE: Propping the two front feet of the dryer up can provide better access to the screws (a 2x4 works well).
4. Disconnect the auto dry sensor plug (usually yellow wires with a white plug to the right of the blower assembly) and any ground wires that may be connected to the front panel.
5. Remove the air blower cover by locating and removing the mounting screws.
NOTE: This is a good time to clean the blower fan housing, squirrel cage motor and dryer interior cabinet.
6. Remove the top panel of the dryer by locating and removing the screws holding the panel in place in the rear of the dryer. With the screws removed, the panel will slide back, then come off.
7. Locate the two screws that hold the operator console in place. There should be one on each side under the top panel. Remove the screws and carefully lift the panel straight up.
NOTE: You do not need to disconnect the ribbon cables. Carefully lay the console across the top of the dryer out of the way.
8. Disconnect the door switch connector plug and remove the dryer front panel by locating the four screws that hold it in place. Loosen the two screws along the bottom of the panel and leave in place. Remove the top two screws and lift up and turn the whole front panel slightly counter-clockwise to release the drum supports from the dryer drum.
NOTE: Make sure the dryer door is closed when removing the front panel to avoid damaging the door hinges.
9. You can leave the drum in place to install the new belt. Loop the belt onto the dryer drum with the ribbed side facing the drum. Reach in behind the air blower with both hands and pull the idler pulley to the right with your right hand to release the tension. With your left hand loop the belt over the drive motor pulley, then release the idler pulley making sure the belt rests on the pulley. You should feel the belt tighten with tension.
NOTE: If you need further clarification on how to properly route the dryer belt you can go to repairclinic.com and click on the "Repair Help" link at the top of the page. On the following page, locate the "Dryer Belt Diagrams" link under the Special Features section. Refer to diagram K.
10. Reinstall the front panel by turning it slightly counter-clockwise and aligning the front drum supports under the front of the drum. Once the supports are under the drum, turn the front panel clockwise and lift up, placing it on the bottom two screws. Reinstall and tighten the top two screws.
11. Reinstall the door switch connector plug and reinstall the operator console. Use caution not to put too much stress on the ribbon cables.
12. Reinstall dryer top panel.
13. Reinstall air blower cover and reconnect the auto dry sensor and ground wire.
14. Reinstall toe panel by inserting the top portion first and pushing up. Push lower portion of the panel in place and reinstall screws.
I know this may seem like a lot, but its actually fairly simple if you follow the steps provided. The trickiest part will be getting the dryer belt installed correctly and removing and reinstalling the front panel. If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
That is gong to be a bad motor. $72. Tools needed: Putty knife nut-drivers screwdrivers adjustable wrench locking pliers Notes: Motor blower is reversed threads Difficulty 1 to 10 = 3 Belt routing Start by: removing filter and filter housing screws then remove front panel screws LIFT UP on panel to remove it. Remove belt remove tub. Get filter housing off Clean up dryer. Lock down shaft and remove blower. Pop motor mount clips. Unplug motor. make hote of position f motor. Install new motor use nutdriver to snap down clips. I have the manual and some photos. In my sleep I can completely replace a motor in less than an hour and that includes oiling the rollers and idler and doing a through hoovering out the machine. This machine is worth replacing the motor and really a breeze to repair. Nothing has worked better for over 50 years. Go for it.
If you wish to clean the interior cabinet of the dryer follow these steps:
1. UNPLUG the dryer. Dangerous voltages are still present even with the dryer turned off.
2. Open the dryer door and remove the lint screen. IMPORTANT: You must remove the lint screen first in order to remove the blower fan housing.
3. Remove the lower toe panel directly below the dryer door by removing the screws under the bottom front edge of the panel. With the screws removed, the panel will drop down, then come off. NOTE: For better access, you can prop the front feet of the dryer up (a 2x4 works well).
4. Loosen the screws on the blower fan housing directly below the drum and remove. There's usually a small clip holding the cover in at the bottom that you may need to pull out to release. NOTE: You may also have to disconnect the auto dry sensor plug (yellow wires with white plug - use a small screwdriver to release the locking tabs) and/or ground wire to accommodate removal of the cover.
You should now have access to the dryer interior and the blower fan squirrel cage motor. Take the time to clean out the blower fan housing cover as well. A long bristle brush made for dryers works well at removing any lint inside the dryer in the hard to reach places, followed by vacuuming.
NOTE: After cleaning, you may experience a slight burning odor. This is normal as lint gets stirred up in the cleaning process and can settle on the heating components. The odor should dissipate after a short period of use.

Disconnect your Kenmore Oasis washing machine from its power source. Make sure that your washer is unplugged before beginning to disassemble it. # 2
Remove the screws that hold the control console to the top of your Oasis washer. In some Kenmore Oasis models, the two screws may be covered by plastic end caps. After removing the screws, set them aside until you are ready to replace them. # 3
Flip the console up, back and out of the way. 4
Locate the cabinet clips on the top of your Kenmore Oasis washer. These clips are located toward the back of the washer top and would be hidden by the console if it were not currently flipped up. # 5
Slide your screwdriver underneath the metal cabinet clips. Wiggle the screwdriver back and forth to gently pry the cabinet clips free. # 6
Disconnect the group of colored wires that plug into the top of the washer from the control console. These wires control the lid switch on your Kenmore washing machine. To disconnect, grasp the white plastic clip and pull gently. # 7
Remove the washing machine cabinet. Tilt the cabinet towards you, and then lift the entire cabinet up and off of its platform.

I opened up the lower panel of my kenmore 90 and then removed the blower cover. I found two hair pins lodged in the blower and removed them. I tested the dryer with it open and the blower and drum began to turn again. I buttoned everything back up, and it is running fine now.
The wheel has left handed threads. Use an impact wrench and an adjustable wrench to get it off or get a vice grips or pipe wrncha nd lock down the shaft then get a stick of wood or a hammer handle and shove it in between two fins at the 3 oclock position. Slam downwards on the wheel and it should pop loose.
remove screw at each end of console. pull & flip back out of way. remove top, remove bottom panel, slide putty knife to release both retainer clips. remove screws to remove door panel assy. remove belt, remove drum. remove motor clamps & remove wires from motor conector.good luck.
Michael, here are a few things to check. Can you turn the drum by hand? If not you may have something in the blower wheel binding the motor. You can acess the blower by removing the back panel and removing the two screws under the vent screen on top. Once the back panel is removed the blower wheel will be behind the vent. Three or four screws and it's off. If the blower wheel is ok, it may be the motor itself going bad. Have someone hold the door switch down and while pressing start, give the drum a turn. If it starts running, it's probably a bad motor. Other things to look for is bad rollers. If they are bound up it may prevent the dryer from starting. Check these things out first...Catriver..post back.
