GE ice maker crushed ice selector does not work. It does work for cubes and water. Pushing the door button when cubes are selected causes the assembly in the back of freezer that moves a rod to open the door in front to work. However, the assembly in back does not work and is silent when crushed ice is selected. The rod that runs from the back of freezer assembly to front of maker is free and opens and closes cube release door.

If the auger motor turns in either setting we know that the auger motor is OK, and if it does not turn in both crushed and cubes that leaves a problem with the WR55X129 time delay, which is the part that you switch to go from cubes to crushed to water.

try emptying your ice tray out cleaning it real good then try it if doesnt work still may need board or auger motor

on the bottom of the bin there is a metal rod, this goes into the back wall where the solenoid is. find the square hole it goes into, pull down the white plastic piece with your index finger. you should here a clunk. now put the bin back and check to see if ok. if not you may need to replace the solenoid assy.

The on and off switch of the ice maker on the ge side by side model has fell off and appears broken. please instruct with a diagram how to reattach.

I have a GE TFX25ppbaaa refrigerator. The ice maker corkscrew motor would run and provide crushed ice only. The corkscrew motor would not run when the switch was moved to the cubed ice ( half moon) setting.

I replaced the large Light/ water/ crushed ice/cubed ice switch , ( product service number GEH WR55X129 ) ( part number GE 162D6372 PO17 )and it fixed the problem. Cost was about $43.00.
