Question about Kodak EASYSHARE Z1285 Digital Camera

Open Question

My Kodak EasyShare Z1285 will not take pictures! It will make the "snap" sound, as though it is taking a picture and then the screen goes black and the camera turns itself off. I will be going on a trip soon, and would really like to get it fixed. Any ideas as to what is wrong?

SOURCE: kODAK eASYSHARE c530 BLACK SCREEN DOES NOT TAKE PICTURE

You may still be able to take pictures with your black screened Kodak camera. This problem occurs in the line of Kodak EasyShare digital camera models.

When you turn on your Kodak EasyShare digital camera, turn off the LiveView function. Take a picture using the small-windowed viewfinder (this is not the LCD screen). Also, try zooming in and out.

After taking a picture, review the picture to see if the picture has been taken. Then turn on LiveView and occasionally the LCD screen should no longer be showing a black screen.

SOURCE: Kodak EasyShare C613 turns off when connected to PC

The camera is supposed to go blank when connected to computer.

I hit the "share" button and can then download photos, even though screen is still blank.

I also have a Kodak Easyshare and when mine did that I had dropped it and had to send back to factory for repair with no warranty on it if it had been dropped.

its obvious a malfunction that didn't occur by bad handling ..and if the device it is still in the warranty period , my advice is to go for it if you never open it or other things that you wouldn't suppose to do

After putting new batteries in my kodak easyshare z1285 camera it will not take pictures what could be the problem I have always had good luck with this camera

I would make sure that you haven't reversed the positive and negative terminals on the batteries try switching them from how you have them in now. If it takes a rechargeable battery try matching up the contacts with the contact leads in the battery housing or perhaps you have put the battery in upside down.

Or maybe the new batteries aren't new and you need to find some others to try.

After taking one picture with my Kodak Easyshare

I've had a similar problem with my Z1285.

The problem is probably weak batteries. The Z1285 requires really good batteries. Standard alkaline batteries don't last very long, perhaps a few dozen shots, less if you are using flash.

I've had success using lithium batteries, not the rechargeable type, but the disposable lithium. Specifically, the AA4 Energizer Ultimate Lithium.

Hope this helps.

Image looks fine on LCD screen before snapping pictures and then has streaks or over exposed on the final picture

your problem is lens shutter maybe broken or stuck up. If you notice once you take picture and check to the display it was fine but try to zoom to the maximum you will found out that there's a line in you image.the only way to solve your problem is bring to service center and ask for cleaning the lens shutter.

Screen goes black when taking picture and picture is not taken.

I know this might be a silly question, but did you take the lens cap off?
If all seems OK I'm afraid the camera needs a repair.

Screen Goes Black when it is turned on

are you in the menu setting?, or inbetween the setting's on the "dial", did you replace the batterys with Dura'sor a solid name?, it sounds like you have a external memory card attached to the camera, did you try taking it out,and see if the problem still happens, also if you do have one and took it out and attached it to a "outside source", it could be infected with a computer virus!, or it was "exposed to a magnetic source, also, try these and let me know, also check your menu settings on pictures settings, to see if you have it on single,or rapid set, that also could be the problem, god bless and let me know if I can be of any more Help

How to transfer pictures from Kodak EasyShare Z1285 to computer

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa.
